I found a R1820 in a lake. Would this be worth messing with? I plan on removing the prop if I can find out how to undo the prop nut. Any advice on this?

Will the prop have any value even if bent?

I think it will really depend on the story and the amount of corrosion present.

Talk about throwing a line into the lake and getting allot of nibbles!
Please give us more info on the What and Where you found this motor and prop?
Depending on the story and condition behind the find will depend on the value.
Most Engines/props don't just fall into lakes without some kind of story.

B-17 trainer in Florida that crashed in the 40's. I believe I saw 3 of the motors but one for sure as I could count the jugs and see the prop clearly and I think I saw the main landing gear also.

I'm not telling the lake just yet... I don't want any company out there. I hope you understand.

I don't think the engine itself is worth all that much but I'm thinking of taking the parts and making some "airplane art" with it.

I'm attaching a cool picture from my fish finder that shows what I believe to be the engines. The engine I found (not in pic) is about 50 feet from the top piece that I think it broke off of.

Any ballpark estimates for light corrosion?
