It's a great movie!
You can see the threads of "Jaws" in it. Very interesting to watch and one thing that I like to point out is the Made-For-TV Movies of the 1970's were really high quality compared to today's TV Movies. "Duel" was actually released in Europe as a feature film!
These old TV movies had good writing and really hold up over time.
Some of my favorites of that era: "Birds of Prey", "Gargoyles", "Duel", "Sole Survivor", "Death Race", Trilogy of Terror", and a bunch I can't quite remember the names of at the moment. I wish some of them would come out on DVD!
If anybody hasn't seen "Duel", go try to rent it or see it.
Jerry

Haha, thats a good one phil.

Ya, I love this movie and wondered if anyone hre liked it as well. Also note not much talking in the movie. Who says you need to say anything to make a great movie, huh?

Love the truck, love Dennis. He makes me laugh.

The last scene is a classic!

Cheers,
Nate

I got a vhs copy of 'Birds of Prey' on ebay about a year ago. That and 'Duel' are two of my favorite TV movies from my younger days.

Amazing movie - it made a big impression on me back in '71. I wanted to get 149 PCE as a personalized plate but the DMV wouldn't go for it :x

Duel's a classic. One of Spielberg's early ones.
Anyone remember "Voyage of the Yes"? I seem to recall that one scared the crap out of me for some reason. I think I was 11 or so.

Oh man, I remember "Gargoyles." My brother and I got in trouble for staying up past our bedtime to watch it. We were huddled under a blanket with a little black and white portable with the sound turned way down, but mom discovered us and we got a major lecture. I caught a re-run a few years ago, and was surprised to discover the movie featured a young Scott Glenn as the leader of a bunch of rebel dirt bike riders.

I barely remember "The Voyage of the Yes." Without looking it up on IMDB, I seem to recall it was about a young guy's attempt to sail around the world solo (or maybe just across the pacific.) Seems to me he got his leg bitten off by a shark or something..that may have been the scary part.

I didn't realize it was a made-for-TV flick..I had always assumed it WAS a theatrical release!

I hear they're re-making another my old '70s late night suspense movie favorites, "The Andromeda Strain." Gonna be a miniseries on Sci Fi or something.
