OK…you asked.
When I was at AC&W school (known affectionately as a “scope dope”) at Keesler. My bud’s and I usually hung out at the Flamingo Lounge. It was just on the inland side of the road from the beach.
Anyway…one night I met a girl there. Attractive and VERY friendly. We hit it off immediately. Next time we met there (next evening if I remember correctly) we went to my car (a beautiful ’50 Ford conv. If you’ve seen the “reverse mortgage” ad with Robert Wagner, that ’50 Ford is exactly like mine. Mine had a bit more of a custom paint job which is a little hard to describe.)
Anyway…our vehicular trists were every night for as long as she was in town. I’d guess just over a week. (Her father was some sort of MS state rep. or something and was there for a meeting of some kind.)
OK…so that’s over.
I get sent to Kirtland AFB in ABQ. I’m there a couple of months and in comes a new room-mate. He’s from MS. (Don’t get ahead of me.)
SOOOO…after he’s there for a while and we become good friends, he invites me to come home with him to Water Valley, MS.
Cool…Well…maybe not.
We get to his home and immediately, he wants to go see his girlfriend.
We go to her house, he knocks on the door and….you guessed it. My lady friend from the Flamingo Lounge.
She looked at me and I looked at her and we both probably had the “deer in the headlights” look for a few seconds. Needless to say, we both carried it off like we’d just met or I wouldn’t be alive to tell this story.

Mudge the minstrel
