Just needed to vent about work today

Thu Mar 15, 2007 4:45 pm

Hello guys/gals,

I hope you don't mind me writting a post about my bad day at work today. I just need to vent I guess. I am hoping there are people here that will understand how I feel.

There is this guy at work, 35 years old, he is very mouthy and cocky and always makes odd comments. He also flirts with girls half his age(16,17,18.). Well, finally I snapped at him when he whisled to a girl I care very much about. Man, did I flip. I told him I did not ever want to see him do that again. He acts all tough you know. But I stood up to him and told him how I felt and held my ground. I mean this guy is 35(Im 21) and he is hitting on teenage girls? And he even has a girlfriend? Not with me around he will, especially to a girl that I care very much about. I don't like fights and I would never start one. But that guy is just asking for it! I don't like unjustice being done like that.

Anyway, was wondering how you would feel in a situation like that? Do you think I did the right thing?

Thanks for your time,
Nathan

Is the girl he was hitting on our girlfriend? Just wondering, because I am Italian, so in my family that would mean that you have the right to dump him in the river.

"I am Italian, so in my family that would mean that you have the right to dump him in the river."

Now, the Itialian in me is old, but isn't there some kind of painful ritual to go through before dumping him in the river? 8)

 .. I wouldn't worry about it! The girl ultamilty makes the choice on who they date.. It's not worth it.. Fighting over chicks is stupid..

How did the girl take it? Was she pissed and offended? If so either you or her or both of you should file a sexual harrassment complaint with your employer. Whistling, cat-calls, and other obscene gestures are inappropriate and a big no-no in today's work environment. Her first step is to confront this guy and let him now how she feels and that it will NOT be tolerated. Then she should file a complaint with H.R. If this nob tries it again with her, anybody else, I would bet money they show him the door. Most employers do not tolerate this type of behavior for fear of a lawsuit. Besides...a 35 year old dude hittin on 18 year old chicks is just plain creepy! :x

A confrontation is never appropriate. YOU could lose YOUR job if you start a confrontation and he would get a pass.

If the girl finds his actions to be UNWANTED, she should tell him she doesn't appreciate it, and will talk to Human Resources at the next occurrence. If she doesn't feel comfortable talking to this guy then she should just go directly to Human Resources. If there is no Human Resources department where you work she should go to the owner or manager and tell them that this person is making her job uncomfortable due to his inappropriate comments and that the offending guy is distracting her and other women from their jobs (i.e. his profit).

Human Resource issues are all about perception. If she perceives what he is doing is inappropriate, that is good enough. Human Resources always errs on the side of caution to avoid lawsuits. These things are usually geared to be in the woman's favor.

If she likes this guy though, she may not want to complain. If you ask her out more than once and she doesn't really like you, she could complain about you and get you fired! Be very careful when dating at work!

Most of them probably remind him of his sister, whom he misses terribly since she went into the witness protection program after blowing the whistle about him hitting on chicks at the Family Reunion. Ya know, no dates with the cousins and now not even with his favorite sister. That just doesn't leave him many options. It's just SO HARD to get a Date these days............... :? :?

Now that is Funny, Funny and so TRUE! B-W you are truely a Sailor at heart and I mean that is the best way!

Nate some Men are Dogs and some women are ... well, anyway. Let him chase the "jail bait" and keep watching 20/20 and someday you'll see him on he "to catch a predator" and you can really laugh your butt off at him a truly sad and sick 35 year old! Walking way can speak volumes, more than feeding the 12 year old in him.
