Canon 30D owners, I need your input

OK, so my Rebel XT just got shipped off to the Canon Hospital and I'm not looking forward to what they have to say. While reading up more and more about Digital SLR camera I felt that I might what to pickup a new body. But if I do that I want to go a step up and go with the 30D.
How is it for an airshow camera? How is it for an everything else camera?
I think my shutter died on my XT, while it is rated at 50k clicks it went about 30K. I take a lot of shots at airshows and I also take a lot at my wife’s gigs and generally I shoot 4-5 shot bursts so I assume that I’m using the camera a bit harder than most.
I feel so naked without my camera

I am pleased with my Canon 30D.
I have had it for about a year (bought it to complement my Rebel XT). While the Canon I would like to have is the 5D, that would be way too much money for just a hobby.
The 30D feel secure, is heavier than the Rebel, the body is larger and affords for better grip; the only thing is that, at 8.1 megapixels versus 10 something megapixels, the newer Rebel XTi also looks like a better (and cheaper) idea. I like the layout of the 30D, and I can briefly look at my pics on the display.
Body only for the 30D runs around $1200; the Rebel XTi goes for around $899.
For the last couple of months I have been considering buying another 30D, so that I won't have to switch lenses between shoots; a couple of days ago I was advised to wait because a model 40D is coming -or it is already out?- soon.

If the XT does what you need, then the 30D would be a good camera for what you want.
If the 40D does come out soon the 30D will still be a good camera for what you want just cheaper!
Make the jump. That's what I'm doing in the near future. If your XT is fixed then you can use it for a second body.

I was using a 20D during last year, and bought the 30D as a backup and so I could leave my big dust pumping 100-400 on one of the bodies, and just change smaller lenses. While the dust has reduced without changing lenses, I still get dust.
The 30D has become my favorite, as it has a much larger viewing menu on the back, letting me get a better idea if my pictures are good or not.
I like my 30D and unless I inherit a big chunk of change (from an unknown relative) for the MKII, I'll probably have this one for a while.

Use both the 20D and 30D. No problems with either. 30D is a little faster frames per second, but it writes to the CF card much faster. It's a great camera. Considering it is about $2K more to step up to the 1 series, the 30D is the best bang for the buck. The new Rebel has 10MP now, but it is TINY, TINY. I can't see it feeling too good with larger lenses.

I've had my 30D for over a year now and am quite happy snapping away 4 and 5 frames at a time. Only about 8500 shots so far though. Dust is a bit of a problem, but that is probably more of lens problem than camera body problem.
I bought mine with lens for about $1K online as I recall from Beach Camera. Bought a few things from them over theears and been satisfied. If you go the mail order route don't buy any of the packages of accessories or insurance though. All that stuff is cheap you know what and is a ripoff.

Is the tracking focus on the XTi or 30D any better than the XT?
