Sort of reminds me of the FAA. I heard they may have a retirement plan to Florida if they put in their 35 years.

gators

Fri Jan 11, 2008 12:52 am

Some friends invited me to fly in and stay overnight in their nice house at Leeward Air Ranch when I was on my way home from Sun N Fun. I mentioned over dinner that I might go for a morning swim in their pool. They told me to check for gators before I dove in. I lost interest in the swim pretty quickly.

Bill they probably told you that so that YOU wouldn't frighten the gators.

I park about 6 feet from the pond, so it's now habit for me to be checking under the Jeep for gators as I walk towards it...........That'd be a surprise I could do without! Could do without the snakes, too...........Ah, but at least the weather's great!

Now that bad boy and some stray / neighborhood cats would be a real hoot!

I guess some beer tossed into the mix would just be icing on the cake!

We get gators at the airport (fortunately they stay away from all movement areas), but we have something living out here that is much more "terrifying" ;). Some of the FBO guys were telling me about a Canadian KingAir pilot who was preflighting his aircraft in the early evening when he came back hollering and banging on the front door that something was trying to get him.

The guys brought some flashlights out to the plane and found a Nutria Rat around the nose gear, snarling back with his three inch long orange teeth.

Cute little guy isn't he? For those who don't know, it's a member of the rat family that's the size of a large cat. They're plant eaters but the large orange teeth make them a bit frightening to the uninitiated. My radio gives them scale ;)

How did you get them to lay still for you?

Um.....I asked nicely??

Didn't they used to "harvest" nutria for the fur industry???? Hmmmm.....Gator shoes & handbag, fur coat...........
