Invitation to Presidential Visit to NMUSAF

Wed Mar 26, 2008 1:08 pm

Again my friends ..... Please no political discussion

I received an invitation to join in the Presidential visit to the Air Force Museum tomorrow the 27th. The Museum is closed to the public.

Needless to say, I plan on attending and will be taking my new SLR Digital 10 megapixel camera. Hopefully I can figure out how to get some good pictures.

What are the normal Sun museum hours? Your post says it will be closed all day and "others" are coming, Can you say who the others are? Are there any Air Force combat pilots?

Misterg97...got those pix yet? Certainly hope the President decided against the flight suit he had on in the shots of him on the aircraft carrier some time ago

Grissom Air Museum has on display an TF-102 that he did some training flights in back when he was in the guard. Would have been pretty cool to have had him visit there. I had the distinct pleasure of cleaning that plane inside and out. Might be some donut crumbs left in the cockpit :)

There...as politically correct as I can possibly be...gotta go clean the blood off my chin now from biting my lip so hard!

Bill ... sorry for the delay ... the museum is open 9 to 5 every day, 7 days a week. .. cosed on Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years .. when I mentioned others, I meant some dignataries ... one of which was the Mayor of Dayton who happens to be a Democratic Super Delegate ...

Many of our volunteers are former military (all branches) and we do have some former AF Pilots. One I know of flew B-17's in WWII as well as some who flew Cargo planes. Also a number of former fighter pilots from various conflicts including the F-105.

Mustang Driver ... it was held in the Modern Flight Gallery and quite impressive .. you should have been here ... They moved the F-22 and one of the F-86's to flank the platform.

Pat Carry ... thanks for making my day with your "no comment" ... having been invited to serve by President Truman and proudly wearing the uniform of my country (over 50 years ago) in two foreign lands. it's great that we have the freedom to speak wether positive or negative. By the way, Lakhurst is still active. I lived in Monmouth County before moving to OH some 14 months ago.

The pictures came out pretty good for the first time with the new digital. I'll try to get some on here when I get a chance.

6trn4brn ... just a suit and tie ... no flight suit

and a final comment ... I'm sure I would have went even if Pres. Clinton had made a visit ... just to see all the hoopla that is involved in the visit of any US President made it interesting .... The Secret Service was once again at their best ....
