New Indy Movie

We just saw the new Indiana Jones movie. The best part is the first, don't go in late. After about the middle it is just nonsense special effects and gets old in the end. About a C- to me. It looks like they just rolled out the same old format and it is a movie made for profit and not with something worth saying. Not really worth wasting money on, and my 22 year old Son felt the same.

I agrree. The first part of the movie was great, but it got more and more ridiculous, even by Indy standards, as the movie went on. Alot of good action, but the end was a bit ridiculous.

Yet another example of George Lucas ruining an iconic movie franchise. He did it with Star Wars and those horrible CGI-filled episodes 1, 2, and 3, and now he's done it with Indy...

Bill is right though, the first 1/3 to 1/2 of the movie is pretty entertaining and worth seeing. The second half falls apart.

I agree with everyone's assessment so far. Too much "leaning" on CGI to try and make things "bigger" and more "exciting".
Just because you can, doesn't mean you should.

BTW, my buddy can be seen leaning out of the locomotive cab at the train station. He's an engineer on the Valley Railroad in Essex, CT. They made him shave his beard off for his 5 seconds of background fame!

I agree with the previous statements. It started out very promising, but the last part was weird. The connection to UFO's and space aliens was just bizarre and it went beyond ridiculous! I can't believe that Spielberg went that route, but then again, he's always been fascinated by UFO's (Close Encounters, etc.)

The flying scenes were too brief.

The movie kind of reminded me of Pearl Harbor - too much reliance on flash-in-the-pan special effects and CGI to "wow" the audience. In this case, too much! A good storyline will always trump special effects.

Harrison Ford has said in interviews that he will probably make several more Indiana Jones movies and continue the franchise. If this is the way the series is heading, I think I'll be passing on the rest - unless one of them contains a storyline with significant aviation in it!

I'll bet I'm about the only person on WIX who's never seen an Indiana Jones flick.

I really don't think I've missed a whole lot...

The first 3 are actually quite good! It's just this last one that was kind of a let down.

I guess I'm in the minority here but I thought it was really good. Was it over ridiculous? Of course, but so were the other three. Thats what I want in an Indiana Jones movie. Lots of action, CGI, and over the top, ridiculous fun. I'd give it a thumbs up!

How many think there will be a Father/Son follow-up movie coming out in a few years.

One thing I read, was the acutall time between last movie and this was 19 years, and in the movie, it has been 19 years, the age of his son. Just a little fun tidbit.

I thought it was OK, not the best, not the worst. Follow on movies are hard by any standard to live up to the first. The Star Wars movies proved this.
