The Barents Road

Sat Jul 25, 2009 11:00 am

I recently was reading the great magazine called "After the Battle" which until up to today i had no idea it existed. Anyways i came across this article on the Barents Road which travels across 4 countries in Northern Europe. It also said that when traveling the road it is still littered with past remains of WW2 mostly Russian helmets and the occasional rare german ones. Well in one part of the article it talked about there being a French Tank captured by the germans just sitting out left in the tundra and also a Soviet P-40E which they said was recovered by a British team. So in all this babble i wanted to ask if anyone has traveled on this road? There are tours http://www.barentsroad.org this is the site but its still under construction and not written in english.

That's some very interesting stuff. I wish I could take the time off of "regular life" and go on a journey over there to follow that road through history.

Thanks for posting.

Cheers,

David
