Try it......3 billion Chinese can't be wrong.

The whole save the earth from carbon crap is a fallacy. CO2 is only 0.3 % of the atmosphere, not enough to cause any kind of greenhouse effect. I don't understand why a non factual b.s. discussion continues in the news media. It's like talking about a flying octopus, or pigs living in the moon, it's purely made up and shows how stupid our society has become.

bdk, as an engineer what's your purpose for showing these articles which have no scientific basis? They must violate your own scientific sense.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, but can we eat the dogs?

This does not violate common sense. I agree with the premise that pet ownership causes additional carbon dioxide emissions. Whether that would make me change my habits (or care) is another story altogether.

Articles like this show how ridiculous the discussion on "global warming" (now called "climate change" because it isn't) has become.

1. Most Chinese do not eat dogs. And yes, you may, except in certain states. In Canada it is legal, if the dog has been butchered properly and inspected like any other meat.

2. A guy who keeps talking about a communist revolution in America has no standing to complain about non-factual b.s.

3. It still really is global warming, it is just called climate change now to not disturb those who haven't woken up yet. The question has moved on from "is the earth warming" (yes) to "did we cause it", "can we fix it", "is it really so bad", and "should I invest in Canadian real estate" (maybe, maybe, maybe, yes and start a dog farm).

4. BDK's underlying point, that it's doubtful whether people can or should do anything to alter the course of climate change short of dismantling society as we know it, is true. Certainly much of the talk about reducing individual carbon footprints is ridiculous. Then again, some of the personal and social costs that we incur for the sake of our pets also are ridiculous.

Sorry about the double post, I thought I was editing my last post but it turned out I was just quoting it. I don't usually post in off-topic, didn't realize posts can't be edited here.

First of all anyone who would really "eat a dog" is uncivilized, unless it is a ball park frank at the football game or airshow.

So don't eat dogs, but may I suggest Cats, the other white meat!

And I am already doing my point to reduce my carbon emissions , I usually run low boost, low rpm in my warbird when going cross country. It is Vlado, Glenn, and all those Mustang guys running high rpm, rich mixture cruise just to get to Osh which is causing global warming.

And it is even worse for Paul, aka T-33 whose day job is to spew burnt diesel fumes in the stratosphere, and then he goes out on weekends and does the same down lower.

I read that there is a problem in the UK with folks selling kitty cat meat and claiming it is rabbit meat...

Well, the USA has the strongest laws against slaughtering and eating "companion animals" such as horses, in addition to dogs. Basically, it's the only country with laws written by someone with the mindset of a 12-year-old girl.

The real problem with eating dogs or any carnivore is that it's so inefficient. It's already wasteful to cycle plants through herbivorous animals to eat them; what a cow eats, not to mention the energy it consumes, could feed many more people than the cow does. With carnivores, you cycle the plants through herbivores and then through the dog, adding a second generation of waste. So the practice tends to die out except where dog is a traditional delicacy.

I'm not especially eager to try dog, but there were a couple that used to guard a paint shop at Chino airport that harassed me a few times, that might have tasted good with a nice Chianti.

Righto. Is that a problem? If the atmosphere is only 0.3% CO2, how can owning a pet do anything else to increase that percentage if for all years refineries and vehicles put the total at such a low level? 0.3% is nothing, and can't create a greenhouse effect.

about a yr ago my mechanic came in to work one day and told me how his next door neighbor had a horse hanging from a tree in his yard. apparently he (the neighbor) was bleeding it out before he cut it up for steaks.

people are crazy

I guess that is better than finding your neighbor in a tree bleeding out..............Maybe not - depends on the horse or the neighbor.
