Anything to do in Stanley, Idaho and Bozeman, Montana?

Wed May 16, 2012 3:27 pm

I'm taking a trip out there later this summer and spending a few days at both locations. Anybody know of any aircraft stuff or anything neat to do in those locations?
We've been to Yellowstone, and may go back, but I'm just fishing around for something different.
Thanks.
Jerry

Admire the countryside and the wonderful array of different colors, suck up the absolute silence, enjoy the spectacular starry skies at night and listen to your beard grow. Montana is spectacular vistas and wonderful little towns that look like they are still in the 1920's, if you're into Western history, you'll find plenty to keep you busy in Montana.
Watch what you say in Northern Idaho as it's still a hot bed of people who keep their own council and who think Hitler was a radical lefty crackpot.

You could buzz down to Craters of the Moon and see where the Apollo astronauts practiced walking on the moon (not the song by the Police either)

So that's where they filmed the moon landings!

Jerry,
Not sure why Bozeman, etc. If possible, I would suggest the Great Falls Area. Malmstrom AFB (Great Falls AFB when I was stationed there) has a museum on the base ... Covers the old 29th Air Defense Command up to MIssiles. You can find an article on it on line including a picture of the planes on display outside.

Historically, the Lewis & Clark Musuem on their expedition is also in Great Falls as well as the Musuem of one of our greatest western artists, Charles Russell.

For scenic, although a drive, Glacier National Park ... outstanding ...

I spent a year before Korea and one after Korea at GFAFB.
