Warner Brothers has announced plans to remake the 1965 classic, "The Dirty Dozen".

Anybody have any thoughts other than,

NO don't do it!

Don't know how they could improve on the original cast. Maybe they have no intention of "improving". Just put something out there to make a few $$$

WWII was full of so many NON-FICTION stories that could be made into great movies. Can't Hollywood find a writer to do something original?

I agree, it will be very hard to top the original cast. The production may be very 1960s, but who cares it works and works well, VERY WELL.

I would vote to leave it along and go with something else.

Gotta agree with mrhenniger. I think Hollywood ran out of original ideas years ago. Do you think that Brad Pitt, George Clooney, and Russell Crowe could do better than Lee Marvin, Charles Bronson and Telly Sevalas? LOL

Give me the old ones anyday. "Tora Tora Tora" is much better then "Pearl Harbor"

No

We have to wait for the BBC to make something worth Watching.

I just picked up the Battle of Britain Special Edition DVD. Wow, what a great movie and a DVD set. Not that is what we need more of. I realistic portrayal of hero and the struggles that really happened.

You mean like prime time sheep herding? :?

The BBC has gone the same way un fortunately, eaven "One man and his dog" (gripping stuff  )has been canned! All that the networks produce now is REALITY T.V.
I agree with mrhenniger, there are millions of real war stories, can't we hear some new ones?

Rgds Cking

P.S. The T.V. does show a lot of cricket. If you want to know what that's like, paint a wall white and pull up a chair!

Just for fun...here's my list of "replacements" for the original cast:

Lee Marvin....”Maj. John Reisman”….Tommy Lee Jones
Charles Bronson....”Joseph T. Wladislaw”….Vin Diesel
Jim Brown....”Robert T. Jefferson”….Dwayne Johnson (aka The Rock)
John Cassavetes....”Victor R. Franko”….Steve Buscemi
Trini López ....”Pedro Jiminez”….Benecio del Toro
Telly Savalas ....”Archer J. Maggott”….Billy Bob Thornton
Donald Sutherland....”Vernon L. Pinkley”….Adam Sandler
Clint Walker ....”Samson Posey”….Michael Charles Duncan

Any other ideas?

Mudge the casting director

Actually I think Frank John Hughes would make an excellent Victor Franko.

Ouch. I'd have to go waaaay darker on casting, and put some people in there with some acting chops up instead of straight action stars. My cast is a bit too old though

Reisman - I may get crucified, but I gotta go Bruce Willis. For one, it gives him a chance to redeem himself for Harts War and Tears of the Sun. And you need someone who can convincingly be "in charge" of the cast.
Wladislaw - Michael Madsen
Jefferson - Ving Rhames
Franko - Gary Oldman just because he's so transparent. He's been the bad guy in so many movies, but you never realize it's the same guy.
Jiminez - Danny Trejo one of my favorite character acters, and it adds a much more convincing "condemned criminal" for the role that trini lopez. Trejo actually spent time in jail.
Maggot - John Malkovich or Billy Bob Thorton That's another tough one to cast.
Pinkley - Steve Buscemi I wish i could find a better fit for this spot. You need someone that can play an idiot, not a individual of questionable judgement.
Posey - Maybe, Maybe Vin Diesel here, but you need someone that can tower over the cast.

But I'm sure that Hollywood will take over the casting and throw some disgusting names at it. I'm sure we'll get Travolta, Cage, and Dicaprio in there. I'll have to treat it like that "Pearl Harbor" movie that got canceled early in production and never made it to screen. I'm glad that never got released, because I heard they were gonna put Ben Affleck in it, and make the story really inaccurate and unrealistic.

Not true. They didn't make the Pearl Harbor movie because Alec Baldwin was going to be in it, and he moved to Europe when Bush got elected. Took Steisand and Sarandon with him.
