Since people seem to think that the off-topic section is for political discussion, something that is frowned upon, I have temporarily closed the section. ANY political discussions in any other forum will be deleted and the user suspended. I have had it with the politically motivated comments.

I saw on the National News last night that Winchester is moving overseas and closing its New Haven, Ct plant as of today.

AND WORSE then that, the model 94 lever-action rifle is now history!

This is YET ANOTHER sad day in the history of these United States of America! What's left to sell off now(Oh,yeh, MY Job, and I suppose thats just a matter of time....)?!

levi jeans are not made in the u.s. anymore either.... yep!!! china!!! walmart, everybody's $$$$ savings hero has destroyed the free enterprise system of this country. it was announced in the paper 2 days ago that walmart plans to add 150,000 chinese jobs to it's payroll in the next 3 years. wally world waves the flag as the savior of the u.s. consumer, & stabs them in the back after they check out. i remember the propaganda they had in their stores in the early 90's.... we support u.s. made merchandise only.

i don't know why the u.s. govt doesn't call them on the carpet for anti trust violations. i guess loyalty is as deep as your wallet. i'm an independent merchant with a 47 year old family business, i know what i'm talking about. i know what i pay for the same items they sell. they have their lost leaders, cannon fodder merchandise that they use to get you in the door, then they screw you with the blind type low profile items. it's all perceived value. fact....... for every locally opening SUPER WALMART that opens across the country 3 independent grocery stores go out of business. they have put out of business countless independent bakeries, auto mechanics, optical practices, hardware stores, florists, etc, all under 1 roof, & the govt turns the blind eye in the name of money while our country is sold out.

I agree! 'Scuse me while I climb back into my teepee. I need to skin that deer I just shot with my bow and arrow so I can make myself some moccasins.
So what do we do chief? Bomb China? Enforce anti-trust laws (but wait, anti-trust laws are to keep consumers from getting gouged, not saving money!)?
Mebbe the problem lies with the consumers that don't demand American made products, not with Wal-Mart (or whomever) that is providing a service that people seem to want.
Of course you'll chop my head off if I suggest that labor unions are the reason American manufacturers are no longer competetive.
Respectfully,

Let me head this off at the pass. If people are going to get into a political discussion then find one of the millions of forums that deal with politics. Politics are a passionate topic for people and views vary a great deal in regards to them. This can lead to nastiness of an unprecedented scale in discussion forums. I would prefer that politics be left out but since this is the off-topic discussion area I will allow them.... for now. Please be adult and behave. (this is a general request and not directed at any individual)

Thanks, Scott. I didn't intend to make this political, I just wanted everyone to know about the passing of the Winchester Repeating Rifle. Then again I guess that in itself is political! Now I'll shut up before I start in on WallyWorld!

Thanks Don,
That is a bummer, I hadn't heard about that and have plans to get one down the road. I suppose I'll settle for an older model, rather than NEW.
