Shopping for a lapTop / notebook computer

I’m looking at getting a Laptop for my / our Bakery and for a Photo platform for trips. Ok, so maybe the reasons are better stated as for photos and for the bakery. Anyway

I can get a good deal on Dell’s from work. What recommendations do you all have on this? This would be used to keep track of business paperwork and other day to day business. I’d also use it to download and view pictures I’ve taken.

So please help me out here.

If you have the money, buy an IBM/Lenovo.

I've bought probably a thousand laptops in my time, and I can count the IBM failures on one hand. That's laptops that weren't actually crushed. Every other laptop I've bought, Toshiba, HP, Compaq, Dell, have had BS failures of all types in high percentages. Your mileage might be better, due to the fact that it sounds like you might be spending your own money on it.

I've been buying a lot of IBM T43's lately. My endusers are brutal to equipment, and the new "Lenovo" boxes seem to have the same quality and are holding up nicely.

If you got the cash, get one like mine, Z60M. 2 gig memory, 2 ghz, big drive, firewire, usb, bluetooth, wireless, and a super bitchin display. One of the advantages of being the IT dude.

My last job I had an IBM T20 and loved it. I guess I need to keep to my theory that most of the time you get what you pay for and start research the product before I buy something.

Thanks for the Input.
