Location: Pittsburgher misplaced in Oshkosh
I watched this series when it was on HBO. Then my wife bought me the DVD set. I must have seen it a 100 times, and it still gets me. I love the ending with Dick Winters reading his friend's letter that talks of him and his grandson.

Grandson:"Grandpa, were you a hero in the war?"
Grandpa: "No, but I served in a company of heroes."

Still gives me goose bumps.

I highly recommend the book " Beyond the band of brothers" by Dick Winters. It is excellent reading and brings much more depth to the film.

I've seen the series many times, and just recently read the Ambrose book..both excellent. Guess I'll have to get Winters' book as well to complete the set.

You should meet some of the Easy Co. guys in person. I've met several including Shifty Powers, and "Wild Bill" Guarnere. There will be several at the WWII Commemorative Weekend at Reading this June.
Lynn "Buck" Compton, Don Malarkey, and Forrest Guth are all listed on the Mid-Atlantic Air Museum's website, and occassionally, "Wild Bill" shows up for the day.

They are true heroes and very interesting to talk with, if you're lucky enough to meet them away from the crowd!

Don Malarkey lives here in Salem and we have the same Dr. so I bump into him every so often and share a few words with him. Very nice fellow!

Navy ace Bruce Williams also goes there. A few weeks back I was at the pharmacy and someone came up behind me, grabbed my shoulders and said "check six buddy!". It was Willie Mohawk himself 8)
