Since people seem to think that the off-topic section is for political discussion, something that is frowned upon, I have temporarily closed the section. ANY political discussions in any other forum will be deleted and the user suspended. I have had it with the politically motivated comments.

(For the love of Pete, is that what New Yorkers call a Knatwurst?)
Just thought of another: Sloppy Joes (seasoned ground beef sandwiches...I guess some folks call them "BBQ's").
I grew up with BBQ sandwiches in Virginia (gotta love the old school lunch programs) and as far I as I'm concerned barbeque as a solitary word refers to pulled pork not sloppy joes. But thats Virginia for you.

Well, golly-gee there, Timmy...thanks for the kind culinary words.
It's true America: Nobody eats quite as well (or as much) as native cheeseheads. Wisconsin truly is America's delicatessen, and we wear our "highest-rate-of-coronary-heart-disease-in-the-nation" title as a badge of honor.
I hear that in some parts of the country women work out to maintain their shapeliness. Ladies, it's much less stressful here in Wisconsin: The more brewskis you serve your man, the thinner you will appear!

how about some aussie differences?
fritz ( South Oz ): unflavoured finely minced meat sort of like salami, primarily based on the most basic of the meats treated like this and originating from the german immigrants, hence fritz. also known as luncheon meat in western australia from what I have heard and devon in victoria.
hotdogs: also known here as saveloys ( don't ask me where that comes from I have no idea.)
hungry jacks here: burger king there.
mcdonalds here: mcdonalds everywhere.
prawns here: shrimps there.
yabbys here: crawfish there. ( if truly curious I might even have to take a picture of our pet yabby but no idea how to post it as don't have a webshots or any other account yet. )
can't think of any more at the moment except for this one.
hash browns there: mock fish pattys here.
there's all sorts of other slang but not so sure it'd be acceptable.
eg beer: booze, grog, squirt, amber nectar, man's drink and pub water
