Since people seem to think that the off-topic section is for political discussion, something that is frowned upon, I have temporarily closed the section. ANY political discussions in any other forum will be deleted and the user suspended. I have had it with the politically motivated comments.

Unfortunately this could be a never ending thread.

Dude, things like that are not exclusive to America. Heck, there are places where the last part of the story has something about a death.

And the last one you mentioned had a happy(ish) ending. The hospital was so excoriated that they backtracked. Though that part of the news didn't get as much play as the initial story. And the perpetrator was outed.

It is important to know about these things, but why dwell on them?

I think his point is that there is a lot of insanity in the country excessive lawsuits, a lack of common sense, and for the first time in history socialism is confronting a market based country, the opposite of what it's supposed to be.

My opinion: It's a law of numbers... absurdity can be found in any large population. There will always be outliers to the bell curve -- though they certainly are easy to point out, rarely do they influence the general mode of the society. People voice their opinions, enact change, and a state of relative norm is returned.

My moderation: It has nothing to do with one political point-of-view or the other and in any case, this discussion isn't going to go in that direction anyhow... right guys? This may be the off topic section, but the general WIX restriction on overtly political soapboxing still remains. Please keep it that way.

When hasn't there been a lot of insanity in this country?

Face it, we are a Schizo people. Its just that in the past, most folks were too busy putting food on the table to notice. The abundance of leisure time and the social networking of the internet has just made it easier to find.

And muddyboots is right, there is nothing in the constitution denying the citizens of the US the opportunity to vote in socialism. Either the European kind, or the Soviet kind.

It was the funniest thing I have seen on the news in a while. That will give potential adversaries something to think about.
