E-Bay is EVIL!

I could start a list of stuff I want to buy and I'd be broke in a heartbeat. What have I done to my self by opening that Pandora's Box.

have sold / bought on ebay since 1999. had some nice buys, rotten losses in both the buying / selling categories. but in my opinion this past year ebay has gravitated down to a cheap flea market in some respects, where the common credo is "how cheap is cheap??? not in all cases, but in general. people selling their souls, grilled cheese sandwiches with images of christ etc, all in the pursuit of $$$. it takes the legitimacy & confidence out of the auction venue. to many fly by nighters, flim flammers, etc, with moronic off the wall offerings. if i was at the helm of ebay, i'd boot any idiotic auctions such as these examples. granted, you can't cull out or detect all the phoneys & crooks, but the off the wall offerings would be a good start to cleaning up what used to be a good auction forum. i seldom have confidence buying / bidding their anymore.

I use Ebay on a fairly regular basis and to date have only had one person not pay and have been happy with items I purchased. When buying if you do your homework, ask questions, read the whole ad and know what your buying, there should be no surprises. If you're selling, properly represent the item and costs, be honest, follow through on what you say you're going to do and again you shouldn't have a problem.

I agree some pretty strange things show up but what's stranger is the fact that some people are bidding on them! Different people have different insterest I guess. The weirdo's and scammers are pretty obvious and I just ignore them but sometime they're good for a laugh. The free market economy at its best!

Ebay has provided me with a lot of hard to find things and has also saved me alot of money getting items well below market cost. Not to mention it has worked well as a marketing tool and made me some good contacts so I'm pretty happy with the service.

The raising fees are my biggest complaint!

Just my 2 cents starting bid !

Brian....

Those odd auctions give Ebay free publicity (not that they need it). All of the wierd auctions show up on news nation wide! How despert are we for news?

I've been buying and selling since 2001 under the user name 54449 (that's my zip code). Overall my experience has been positive except for a couple of deadbeat buyers and sellers that refused to complete a transaction...luckily it wasn't high ticket items. The thing that really annoys me is that Ebay continues to raise the seller fees. As if they don't make enough the way it is!

Hmmm,

In the past year I have bought...

All the Cell Phone Accessories for my Nextel Phones at work.
(How can you beat $8 for an OE Moto Car Charger?)
An Antenna for my Beetle.
A Remote starter and Power Door Locks for my Toyota.
I am now tracking the Kenwood CD player I bought for the truck.
It moved from PA to NJ last night, and should be up here by Thursday!
($80 Less than the Crutch people)

I've been on ebay for the last 4-5 years and do a pretty good business selling photos. With my competitors selling downed loaded dpi cr*p pictures printed out of their cheapo scanjets, sellling a quality print at a fair price is fairly easy. I've made about 800 sales and a lot of friends and repeat customers in the process. I'm under jcook1963. Feel free to buy a picture (just kidding).

I've been selling on Ebay for a year now and have been doing pretty well. I mainly sell framed military medals, models, and decals. So if you need any of these things my name is tpsjugglerdude.
