The day of the great blackout a few years ago, a fluke fisherman drifted past a 16' great white just 200 yds. outside of the Fire Island Inlet. Two days later it was reported outside of the Shinnecock inlet. They go where the food is (hopefully they don't mistake a surfer for food).

Can't comment too much on surfing, but......Having flown more than a few "Sundown Patrol" flights (looking for boaters in distress) over the Gulf off shore of North Florida, the numbers of sharks I saw convinced me that keeping out of the water was a no-brainer...

Hey Jack, Does Boregon have any surfable coast?

Come down to San Diego, I have an extra board for ya! And the sharks love warm water!!! :D

Actually, I have not surfed in quite a while and my boards are now part of a restaurants decor!! I decided to stick to land and air activist when I almost drowned a few years back. :?

Great Whites are tasting the surfers here 3-4 times a year!
There was one in Yaquina Bay in Newport hanging loose and chowing downing on Sea Lions a couple of years ago.
When I was about 13 I caught a small black tip off the Navarre Beach in Pensacola. I was so impressed with myself I took it home and put it in the bath tub to show everyone. I then forgot about it and went to softball practice. I think I can still hear my mom screaming

Tulio, my post was an attempt at humor. What I wrote wasn't any form of Spanish of which I did pass, barely, a year of college credit. It was, as I remember, it of the old TV program of the Cisco Kid and that's about how he and Pauncho spoke English. As for the restaurant, I think Mexican should be spelled with a capital M. Perhaps a "mexican" restaurant is one that only has one floor, ours here has two. Anyway, even if I did eat those halitosispenos, the waiters are mostly American and speak English. I do like Coronas. Anyway, after the debate on whether it was a shark or a dolphin, I'd still say it was a big fish.

My bad.

I did not see the humor in your attempt, but just another put-down on people that you seem to consider to be not as sophisticated as you, as evidenced by other postings in the recent past.

The words: "Seesco, eets, beeg, eet" threw me off and made me fail to see the sub-rosa humor in your posting.

Sure, in English "Meixican" should be spelled "Mexican" and with a "capitAl" (not capitol) M.

"mexican" in lower case, is the "gentilicio" [the term used to describe a region or a nation's people] in Spanish and I assume full responsibility for not taking into consideration the difference between capitalization in Spanish and English. [And right now, I cannot come with the correct term for a similar purpose in English]

So, maybe you should stop trying to be funny, and I should stop reading your postings as being demeaning to East-Texans, Mexicans, cops, soldiers, and so on and so forth.

Saludos,

Tulio

My writing must have more impact than I realized, since I am from E Texas, or at least central south east Texas, born in Dallas, raised in Houston. If I can insult an area without even knowing it, that is some writing. I don't know your ethnic background, perhaps you feel inferior, and perceive an insult where none was written. Anyway, it is obvious that you have a chip on your shoulder and I agree with one thing you said, that you should not read any of my posts.

So, being from E-Central-Texas makes it OK for you to say that a veterinary doctor is fine for people in E. Texas? Like when you said that a pick up truck does not need a Ferrari mechanic, or words to that effect?

I guess inferiority would be appropriate in my case, just in opposition to your feelings of superiority. Just for balancing purposes.

It is obvious to me that you too, have a big chip in your shoulder.

I was already ignoring your postings, and I will do my best to ignore your attempts at being funny.

This is for me, the last posting on this matter.

Saludos,

Tulio

Tulio, it probably won't make any difference in your opinion of me or what I wrote, but if you are going to critisize my writing at least be accurate. The story about the "doctor" in the E Texas town who was found to be only a vet, was in the paper. It was a college friend Joe Ned who said the "doctor" had treated both him and his Dad over the years and seemed pretty good. I had never even been in the town, much less seen the vet. I did write and do believe a pickup does not need a Ferrari mechanic, and I don't see how that insults anyone. Again I think it was in the context of a joke.
