Don't sweat it James, I can't stand Mustangs either and I think it's long overdue that we come clean.  Whenever I get my arm twisted into flying formation with Mustangs, I grow very weary of banging the jet's throttle against the rear stop to fly slow enough to stay with them in formation.  If you ever run as a political candidate for Emperor on your anti-Mustang platform, I'd be honored if you considered me to be your Minister of Culture or Sergeant-at-Arms so we can get to work quickly to ban them.

I don't see why you need to apoloize. In the couple years I've been on WIX I've always known you to conduct yourself with diplomacy and class even while advocating a position vigorously and adamantly in the face of a rhetorical crossfire. My frequent worldwide travels lead me to the same conclusion as Randy Haskin. Hope to see you at Oshkosh again! :drink3:

Never got the impression you were anti-American....it IS very fashionable these days to be so, so glad to see you're not jumping on THAT bandwagon....but just to be clear...you ARE pro-Corsair? Good....welcome aboard...

Ya know James...being anti-Mustang is not the same as being anti-American...didn't the Birts give it that name?

Now if you were anti-A-36 Apache...that might make the argument.

I think the idea that you might be anti-American is because you type funny...

So, you're saying that the Corsair is like the Republican warbird and the Mustang would be the Democrat warbird? *ducking!!!*

Just kidding!

The cunning plan was to use available American heavy iron to stuff in the snout of Mr Hawkers finest when it was realised that Centaurus spares were not all that plentiful and nor was there a fund of sleeve-valve expertise to call on. The result may be quick but the four bladed prop looks all wrong. It would be nice to read of pilots impressions of each - especially if that pilot had flown behind both engines.

Well James for what it's worth I have never noted an anti-American bias in any of your posts. Perhaps you have made a few jokes now and again but most of us here are guilty of doing that once in a while. Besides, assuming that your mother and father are both Australian, you should be forgiven for any anti-American comments given your strong genetic pre-dispostion toward criminal behavior. In the near future I expect to hear that you will released for parole to New Zealand, joining the rest of the former inmates from the penal colony of Australia.

James, bet ya I'm not wrong on this.....

Being a collonial with an heritage from the wrong side of the pond ( Read AKA, my first language is NOT English ) I bet you that most that may have an issue with you are also not comfortable with English humor in general.

I for one struggle with it's often smart & witty beautifully constructed phrases. An Aussie once also told me to what for me seemed an argument ( fairly heated at that ) was just a regular argument & no one took offence at it. Altough it did not seemed that way to me then :!:

May we just all take Monty Phyton as a reference  In general some humor culture is a bit more slap stick in it's most common found genre. A good example is my own culture French Canadian ! Man is our humor simple when compared to the classics of Brittish humor. Example.....Mr Bean.....OK scratch that one

Your posts are often a good example of funny witty Brit writing.

OK, over for Monday morning & have a fun great week all.

BTW, I'm biased here. I like both Spits & Stangs

I really appreciate the non-American viewpoints and particularly James' viewpoint. More than once, he's pointed out how things are perceived from non-American perspectives and I find it refreshing and I usually learn a thing or two. Cheers James.
