As for linking to the trespassing thread, I can't believe you would want to drag the memory of your claiming that the proper punishment for tresspassing is death. I'd leave that dog lie

No I am still all for it. At least a severe wound would stop somebody from doing it again. If nothing else it would probably stop somebody else from deciding it was their right to do as they pleased in somebody elses POSTED property.

Yes, mutilate their young hands and the hands of their parents and siblings! Let the streets flow with their blood!
Gimme a break...
I agree totally. I saw that post and scratched my head and realized this was obviously some kids putting down a hopscotch grid and putting their names down. I see this on the road in front of my home all the time.

That's just another sidewalk to kids that age. How would they know? They were playing hopscotch! Hardly criminals.
Exactly. Heck, that’s about as wholesome of an activity you can find kids doing. This is a slice of Americana, NOT vandalism! The same people who’d label this “vandalism” would probably also gripe about how kids just want to stay indoors and watch TV or play video games over the summer.
I am a veteran and I have ZERO issues with this.

I suggest that part of the problem lies in not being taught who Grissom was. I am fairly certain the taggers are young enough that they've never heard of him. That part upsets me, leaving them ignorant enough to actually tag a memorial without guilt.

I have asked a number of my college age friends who Grissom was, and NONE of them had a clue. Some of these folks are in school and doing very well. They all know who MLK is, and Rosa Parks and all manner of other PC idols, but nothing about NASA, or military or anything else of this sort.

I suppose if there is a Tupak memorial somewhere we would get in all sorts of trouble for spray painting "Grissom!" all over it....

there actually is a Tupak memorial... statue too. :| I'm betting though that it tends to be "guarded" a bit better than most memorials...

FWIW, I was called for jury duty and got placed in the jury box. Then the attorneys started their questioning. The case was about a kid who was caught tagging. The kid's attorney asked if I had ever been a victim of tagging. I hadn't but my neighbor had. She asked how I felt about it. So I told her I felt it was a complete lack of respect for anyone's hard work to deface something that they work hard every day to keep. I was the first one to be dismissed but I'm sure the prosecutor was fighting like hell to keep me onboard.
