For those of you into books, this was the best show ever. All of the big hitters from all over the world were there. The highlights, for me anyway...
Kelmscott Chaucer.
The SF public library brought it over for a private function. This is my personal holy grail. The most beautiful book ever created. It was in a glass case with a bunch of other sh1t. That was an abomination to me. I stood outside of the barrier leaning over looking at it, and a nice lady told me to come on inside. I had some egg rolls and wine and other foo fooo sh1t. It was like I was a big shot, like all of the suit people there. They were very cool. They were dressed to the nines, and I was standing there in my "Salt Lick BBQ, Driftwood Texas" T shirt. A nice lady introduced me to the Lady who is the librarian for the special books collection at the library. She told me I could come in any time and view the book. She was adamant that it is a public library, and I could see, feel, handle, and read anything in there, as long as I didn't drool on it or get any snot on it........(I'll give you one guess where I'll be next saturday)
Other Kelmscott Press books.
Ohhhh, man. You wanna know how to sell zillion dollar books? Get a smokin hot babe to show them to you. I was looking at a little book, with the blue covers, and hot, Hawt, HAWT librarian babe comes over and says, "Books are meant to be held, let me get this for you", then she got it out and handed it to me. I opened it and it was like, Waaaaaaaa (golden light coming out) Ohhhhhh dude.....
The Vedder Illustrated "Rubaiyat of Omar Khayyam". Say no more bayybayy. It was close. I almost bought the first (big book) edition. I found two. My friend stopped me.......ahhhhhhhhhh
