from militaria international magazine....... the uss new york, construction started 9/9/03. it was built with 24 tons of melted down scrap steel from the world trade center tragedy, it's the 5th in a new class of warship, designed for operations against terrorists. it will carry 360 sailors & 700 combat ready marines to be delivered ashore by helicopters & assault craft. the ships motto........ never forget.
i've got to hand it to the pentagon bean counters, they came up with a new weapon system with very poignant ingredients & a ship with meaning & extra esprit de corp.
