That looks like fun. One of these years I am going to get one of those little buggers. Are the ailerons aluminum, or does it just look that way in those photos?

Yup. The flaps and ailerons are all metalized. Don't know exactly why the builder chose to do that vs. just covering them in fabric, but they work well and look pretty good.

Lil what? Don't know of any airplane with that name.

Actually, the racer will be called "Maybe's Baby." That is what it was named when it raced back in 1969. Don't want to break tradition. I'm told that you should never change a racer's name, so I won't, particularly since I'm only the temporary owner of the airplane and the fella letting me race it wants it that way. :)

Working on gathering up the history on it now. Was told it raced at the '69 Cleveland Air Races, but haven't found documentation of that yet. However, it did race at the '69 St. Louis Air Races (6th place at a speed of 195.30 mph, piloted by Jim Clements). It's not a real rocket ship, as far as racers go, but it is a blast to fly (pun intended), and I look forward to having the opportunity to race it.
