OK, here it goes:

When I was a teenager, my favorite magazines were Hot Rod, and the NHRA specials, and whenever I could afford a copy, I would go to the only magazine shop in Guatemala city, and buy a copy.

Probably some time during the mid 1960s, Hot Rod profiled a car that to this day, I would very much like to see.

I don't remember the make, or even the model, but I distinctly recall that the letters "THT" were painted, in white, on the doors on both sides. The car was painted blue, with different shades of blue, and there were lots of chrome and big radial tires with either aluminum or magnesium rims.

Of course not knowing the make or model, has made my search very difficult, but .... who knows? Probably you have seen something similar? I would love to see pictures of this particular car.

No, Hot Rod cannot help; I have tried for over 20 years and no help has been possible, precisely due to the lack of better information.

What was the car shaped like?

If you can describe it better ( the lines of the car ) perhaps we can find your dream for you!

Was it a production car or a racer or prototype ... your best guess is a good starting point.

Hi!

Thank you for answering!

The car looked probably like a 1968 Dodge Dart GTS or a 1969 SC Rambler, squarish, big engine, it was high off the ground, the tires were large, and probably a two door.

I have never been a "car" guy, never one to memorize names or models, or stuff like that; this is why I am having such a hard time finding the car; it is frustrating to have the mental image of the car in its glorious blue scheme and the letters " THT" in bright white, or light blue, or silver . . .

Looking through pictures posted on the web, I came up with those two cars that I mentioned above, really close, although the trunk in the THT was squarish, almos simmetrical with the front end.

Roadrunner is bigger then a Dart or Scrambler. What about the Ford Thunderbolt? Being based on the 64 Fairlane it was about the same size and was wildly popular back then. These links have some good photos of the T-bolts

The end of a long search!!

A while back, I posted my original request here, for information on this vehicle.

It took me a very long time, basically since the early 1980s, to finally get the information I sought, and this week was particularly fruitful.

Thus, I can present you with the photo of the car, and a little data on it.

THT Racing Enterprises of Dallas, TX (Harold Tomlinson, Morth Higgenbotham and Dennis Topletz) had this 1968 1/2 Dodge Dart highly modified and achieved several wins during its career.

No more information as to the whereabouts of the car, but at last, I can put this question to rest.

My 4WD truck has lower profile front tires! My how times have changed... :lol:

I love that nostalgic look and especially the paint/artwork used back then.

The image in my mind, was of course, different from what I see now in that car : )

How time changes our taste! I still like the car, but those tires would have to go!

That is an SS Hemi Dart. Very limited production for the Super Stock classes in NHRA competition. They still run that class by the way.

The cars where shipped from Dodge to Hurst Industries, makers of the Hurst Shifters and such, for modification and installation of the 426 Hemi.
Dodge had them made just to wipe out the competition and dominate the class, whicht they still do, and you could have bought one from select Dodge dealers back then. And oh yes, no Warranty!

They are some very rare cars today and hard to find in original shape. You can check with some of the Hemi clubs and groups for more info on this particular machine as some of these groups have gegistries on these cars.

It amazes me how, after so many years of getting no answers to my question, all of a sudden all the information became available in a couple of days.

There were quite a few knowledgeable people involved, and they truly helped me.

Now, I will have to figure how to squeeze a Dodge Hemi in my living room, together with my airplane : )
