While browsing this Russian collection of pictures I found these very touching pictures of this old Russian veteran who, finally, came face to face again with his old tank. The man looks as if he knows all about hard times.....

Those are amazing and evocative photos. We are so used to the Russians being our cold war enemy that I sometimes forget that they were our allies against the Nazis. I wish we had the details on that old gentleman. He may well have been one of the soldiers that stopped Hitler, and as much of an Allied hero as the ones we know from the British or U S or Canadian, etc. forces.

This ought to also be posted under the military topic. It is too good to miss.
