What Kind of Guns Do You Own?

Sun Nov 16, 2008 3:35 pm

I've got a Japanese Type 14 Nambu, and 30-40 Krag.

Only one: a 1918 .303 made in Austrailia. Thats the only one I got. My dad used to own a SKS though! :)

I have an:
AR-15
M-1 Garand
Colt 1911 .45 (grandfather's service weapon from WWII)
Colt 1911 .45 (father's weapon)
Looking to get a 9mm just for targets

Sun Nov 16, 2008 8:53 pm

Springfield .45 XD (it's basically a modernized 1911 from the guys who re-man'd the 1911A1s for the USMC, so does that count at least a little?)
Keltec .32 (hey, it's 7.62mm... :))

Grandfather's got the 1906 Winchester .22LR, the .410 Winchester pump and Sears .16 side-by-side.

I'm looking to get a couple of rifles in the future, but right now they're out of my price range. Would love to get into some Service Pistol or Service Rifle shooting one day though, looks like a lot of fun.

Maybe you've asked the wrong question Chris... Not what kind of guns but how many!???

I was embarrassed when my wife asked how many guns I have and I actually had no idea. I counted, and I've actually got north of 30!

????

i have a model 1910 belgian browning with an interesting history...... it was 1 of 1000 that was imported by japan in 1932 for private purchase by japanese military officers. (researched by a ww 2 japanese fire arms expert) it has added japanese arsenal markings, nomenclature, etc. it was a ww 2 bring back by my dad who was captain of a rifle co. in the pacific. he retrieved it on new guinea after an ambush in 1944. in 1972 the gun was stolen by a 13 year old neighbor kid who was breaking in to houses in the area. another bad apple kid threatened to go to the cops if my neighbor didn't give him 100 dollars. the other kid agreed. my neighbor took the kid to a ravine surrounding my old neighborhood where his loot was stashed & told the other kid that everything was by a big rock. as the kid went to get his bribe money my neighbor shot him in the head. then the news surfaced there was speculation it was from my dad's 1910 belgian browning. my dad was naturally beside himself, but upon an autopsy report it was concluded that the kid was shot by his dad's .22 pistol. the cops found the belgian buried in the killers yard, it was solid rust. dad got it back & stashed it in his bank safe deposit box. about 6 years ago he said he had a japanese pistol for me. i figured a japanese type 94 or a nambu pistol. my eyes popped when i saw what it was, thus the research. i took it to a gunsmith who said leave it as it is & it will be toast, or restore it. i chose restoration, it took 3 months. i later shot 100 rounds out of it. i had goose bumps firing it, as i thought.... wow the last time this gun was fired it might have been pointed at my dad!! it's a real shooter. i only shot it the 1 day. i also have a japanese type 99 rifle, another ww 2 bring back from dad, & my grandfather's .22 mossberg rifle pre ww 2.

mostly rifles, from WWI to present day,
1903 Springflield, 1917 date of manufacture
1917, 1918 date of manufacture
2 M-1 Garands, both prewar, 1 is a British Lend Lease, Dec 1941 production,
M1 Carbine,
UZI semi auto, 9mm and .45 acp
AR-15,
10/22
AR-7 The first gun I owned,
2 C-96 Broomhandle Mausers, 1930 manufacture
P.08 Luger 1941 manufacure
P.38 1944 manufacture
Helwan,
3x PA-63, a very cheap, reliable protection gun,
and a couple of .22s
I am a much better shot with a rifle. I am right handed, but left eye dominant, I shoot long guns left handed, but handguns right handed. Sometimes I forget to aim with my right eye when shooting pstols, and it really messes up the aim.

If you are not sure which it your dominate eye, here is how to find out.

Pick a object across the yard or street, point at it with your dominate hands index finger, ie right hand if you are right handed. With out moving your hand or your head, close your eyes, one at a time and note which eye has the tip of the index finger on what you were pointing at, that is your dominate eye.
