BAPTISTS BESTS BARBARIANS

Wed Nov 19, 2008 11:44 am

A great event in the history of civilization took place last Saturday in Waco. I wasn't there to see it, since in this economy, I am trying to save travel money, but it was a major blow for the forces of good over evil. The Baylor Bears beat the Barbarians On The Brazos 41 to 21. It doesn't happen every year, sometimes the devil has his day, but it has happened twice in recent years so I savor it.

Now there is one more step to complete the sweep. Texas plays the Aggies on Thanksgiving. If you are anywhere near Austin, you ought to be there. If not it is on TV, Nov, 27, 6 pm Texas Time. Now the Aggies have not had too good a season, but they often are not smart enough to know when they are supposed to lose, and Texas has had some important injuries, so you never know. And any Aggie would rather beat Texas than win the lottery, find a cure for cancer, and establish world peace.

Hee, hee, hee!

Two Aggie pilots come in for a short field landing, they stop in about 149 feet. "Boy. that was one short runway" "Yea, but look how wide it is, 10,000 feet". DUH!

I use to fly with some Aggies, Geez!

I know some Aggies that can fly pretty well, probably had Longhorn CFIs.

But, I got to give the Aggies credit for one thing, despite their inmate haircuts and their habit of hugging their roomates, they usually give a max effort in this football game. They might lose to anyone during the year, but on that one day you can't take them for granted.

Texas most years is going to be pretty good, often in the top 10 at sometime during the year. Texas will have the big game against the Okies, but often will play someone like Ohio St, Alabama, or USC, either in the season or a bowl game. So, while the Aggie game is still a big one, I think some of the Texas players may not see it as The Game of the year. A & M is usually not ranked as high, so a win in this game makes their season.

A few years back, I flew to College Station and went to the game. We were actually treated pretty well by their fans, no complaints there. After all they are Texans. There was a tragic accident at the bonfire a few years ago with some kids killed which brought the schools closer together.
