This has been a rough year and a bit for my family/extended family. I have lost two cousins and now as of yesterday a second cousin since November 2009. Just curious if there was going to be any auto/aviation items happening this weekend or next week? When the first cousin died that November, I had the great luck of having a MiG 21 to distract me that evening... any leads/ideas guys?

Thanks agent86... My thumb may be in use soon (I certainly can't afford the 3.45 all the way out for gas) because I would love to be able to visit and see everything there is to see there. The smell would even remind me of home apparently. I grew up on a farm, bring on the cows! Do you think they need anyone to sweep floors and to guard hangars at night? I'm really good with a golf club.

Funny you should say this,I joined the museum approx. 10 yrs ago with a good friend of mine.we are both very experienced mechanics and thought the museum could use our talents.they say show up early on saturday morning and they will put you to work.3 weekends in a row we showed up and were handed brooms and told to sweep out the hangars.I decided that driving 35 miles to sweep out the hangars wasnt what I wanted to do.their loss.

David,

If you don't mind coming about 2.5 to 3 hours drive north of the border, the EAA AirVenture Museum is having its beer tasting Hops & Props event this Saturday March 5. There will be at least a few WIXers there, including myself, Chris "Mustangdriver" Henry and Barry "Bear" Herwald. Perhaps others that I am not aware of. We'd love to have you come up and hang out with us.

Zack

Have you been to the NAS Glenview museum, or Lee Hartung's nearby car, license plate and motorcycle collection?

I've never even heard of the Lee Hartung Museum, looks pretty neat. I've been able to see some pretty sweet cars before (our old landlord had a Duesenberg and Superbird.) I've also been through the Volo museum/sales buildings. That is enough to make any car person drool.

What I really need is for our airport to get its FBO situation settled. Too much drama going on lately and not enough flying.
