386th Bomb Group

Thu Jan 12, 2006 9:39 pm

I am the grandson of Julius E. Pinner who was in the 386th bomb group and has recently passed away from stage four lung cancer. We are going to have a memorial for him this summer and I am trying to get all the information I can for the military honors he deserves. I am going to put a shadow box toghether with the flag on top from his service. I myself am in the US Air Force and have been serving for just over sixteen years, if anyone can help I would greatly appreciate any information that I can get, thank you.

Bob, if he was a member of the 386th Heavy Bombardment Group, they have an excellent website here: http://www.376hbgva.com/

Lots of good information and the guy that runs it, Bob Giordano, is very helpful.

There was another 386th Bombardment Group that flew B-26's I think. Good luck with your efforts to honor your grandfather.

Bob,
To request a complete copy of Military records
http://www.archives.gov/veterans/evetrecs/index.html

To request replacement Medals, Awards, and Decorations
http://www.archives.gov/veterans/military-service-records/replacement-medals.html

Don't expect a quick reply, my requests were several years ago and under an older system. They took a few months each, but I had very good results with both.
