Just found this article on web page I frequent. It talks about a musuem at the sight of Hawkins and Powers. The article appears to be fairly recent, yet I am guessing it was researched before the auction last year. Does anyone know if this is really an active musuem or is the info in the article out of date.

I thought that he had a few aircraft on display there as a museum including one of the Always A-26's.

Hey Steve, I interned at H&P during the summer of '01. The "museum" was "operational" at that time. I quote those words because, as the article says, there wasn't much to it. I imagine it was mostly a tax relief program. It was pretty much a pass to walk around the ramp and wander out into the boneyard. There was a 12x12ish log cabin with some pictures of tankers from throughout the years, but it was unorganized and never open. On a roadtrip in '05, I stopped in, visited some friends, and took the tour again. Things were pretty much the same, although they did have an office by this time. I'd say the article was written before the auction, and obviously some of the planes mentioned are no longer there. I have no idea of the current state of the museum, but I can't imagine it's too good. I really enjoyed my time at H&P, and wish they had had a different fate. The "Museum of Aerial Firefighting" could have been an awesome, and a completely unique experience. Whatever happened to Gene Power's A-26? It was a great looking airplane....
