Covering Aviation Events

Fri Apr 30, 2004 6:21 am

I am interested in recieving articles relating to aviation events. We have had several by Chuck Gardner (thanks again for that Chuck) and there will be an upcoming article on the WIX invasion of the New England Air Museum. What I want to know is if anybody is inclined to submit similar items on airshows, museums and other aviation related events. You don't have to be the best writer, we can work that out and I know a bunch of you are excellent photographers. Let me know if your interested in doing this and we'll work out the details.

Scott,

I would be happy to do a write up on any show I attend, along with photos.

Count me in Scott.

I haven't been able to make too many shows lately but I'm still getting out and around when I can.

Of course you can count on me... however it looks like the New England folks may have quite a bit of "bleedover" here...

I'd like to see some of our Midwest and West Coast gang to offer as well! Always I love seeing reports from our overseas divisions!

If I make it to an event I'd be more than willing to do a Short write-up on it.

Some guidelines

Well it seems we have some enthusiasm for this topic. I'll just give you all an idea what I'm looking for as far as airshow coverage goes. For pictures one of the main gate or signage if any with several shots showing the crowd, flight line etc.., and several shots of aerial displays. Additional shots of aircraft and displays are of course welcome. Text should include what, where, and when and opinions of the event overall as well as several of the aerial displays. A list of aircraft attending would be welcome of course but its understandable if this is not possible or incomplete. Basically I just want you impressions of the airshow. Think of it as trying to describe your visit to a friend and go from there. We can smooth any rough edges in the edit.

hmm.... this concept died a sudden death 13 years ago. Should the concept be resurrected?

It could be interesting. I'm hoping to shoot the Beale AFB open house next weekend, Chino, hopefully Oshkosh and Reno. Are you looking to do a full article on a show or how are you looking to use things?

But with more images in the article itself and a gallery at the end.
