Yes, it's the largest hangar on the field..at the NE corner or thr property.
A very nice facility.

Yes there is. They are trying to restore a site south of Abilene in what's called the Denton valley (NOT the Denton north of DFW). No aircraft or missiles at this time.

mrhenniger wrote:

Several blocks NE of city center. It's the city's largets park and is near their Fairgrounds. Also they have a UH-1H "Huey" and M-60 tank on display.

Other items... I think the C-119/F-102 at Granbury is actually the now defunct Pate Museum. If Goodfellow has an HH-43, I think that's whhere they got it from.

Other notes:
There is a T-33 at a VFW post in San Angelo.
The airport at Brownwood has an F-4 and F-111 on display ...and I believe an A-7 as well.
There is also a UH-1B on I-20 just east of Midland at a military surplus store. And A UH-1H at a Vietnam memorial at Big Spring...along with the museum at the old Webb AFB.

Besides the CAF HQ at Midland International Airport, there are three restored Hueys and one Cobra belonging to a private individual living here and he bases them at Midland Airpark, which is in the northeast corner of the city. Not open to the public, but he and his crew will be flying them in our CAF Airsho in September this year.

Also, there's a T-34, AT-11, Harvard IV located at Mabee Ranch, which is 13 or so miles north of Midland.

You might already have these, Mike, so forgive if I'm only restating stuff.

There's also an L-39 based here at MAF as well. Old Shep can probably give you more details on that one though.

Hello Mike, living here in Beercanridge(or Monastary on the prairie Gary Austin know's about that one!)I will tomorrow get u the cooridinates for the main museum building, although not all A/C are in one hanger, usually just two.

Thanks Steve! Looking forward to those coordinates. If you need any help with that you may wish to read this…

Thanks. I have added those types to the list. They will be in tonight’s upload.

Also do U want or need pic's of A/C like say the plainview T-33 or B-25 in Pampa or F-84 in Tulia, ect. ect......?If so I just bought one of them scaner/printer thingys and will try to fire it up tommorrow.

For a description of what info is going into the Locator visit…

The short of the long is that I am NOT taking pictures. That would make the task of building the Locator just too large, besides the Locator is about finding them. However, Scott Rose would likely very much appreciate your photos for the Warbird Registry. You should send any pics you have to him.

Already have that one in the Locator…

The NE corner puts you in a farm field. Did you mean the SE corner? There is a building there which appears to have access to the grass strip.

I think I found the T-33 at 32 29 03.12 N 100 24 36.91 W. Is it pole mounted. Is the UH-1 near-by?

So the Pate Museum is now closed? When did that happen? Are any of the aircraft still there?

JBoyle wrote:

I thought there is one at a high school. I can’t find it myself. Is the one at high school the same as the VFW (possibly next-door neighbors)? Or are there two separate aircraft? Do you happen to have a street address or coordinates? I am not having much luck with these T-33s.

I have the F-4 and F-111. Where is the A-7? Is it near the other two?

I’ll need more info for this one. Helos are very difficult to pick out in the satellite images. What is the name of the store? Street address or maybe even coordinates.

JBoyle wrote:

I have the one at the memorial. Is the UH-1 at Webb part of the Hangar 25 museum or is it displayed outside someplace?

Cool. Does he tour to air shows with them?

Are these display outside? Or they some kind of museum? Privately owned?

Thanks for the tip. I likely won’t be including privately held aircraft in the Locator. Museums and static display aircraft are OK since they typically don’t move around too much. Flying museum’s are OK since the aircraft come home to roost. The privately held aircraft are usually not viewable anyway, and can be here today and gone tomorrow.

It looks like there may yet be some updates to the Locator.

Thanks again.

Regards,

Mike

Do you want to find locations of displayed, stored or active aircraft? Then start with the The Locator.
Do you want to find or contribute to the documented history of an aircraft? If so then start with the Airframes Database.

Tulio, Ernesto's house on Piper Rd. is in Pearland, not Pasadena. The T-28s are still there.

The F-106 at Ellington Field is actually an F-102, flown by George W. when he was with the unit. Ellington is the third Houston Airport it is south and slightly east of Hobby.

There is an F-4D at the Bastrop VFW.

There is an RF-4C in front of the football stadium at Del Valle High School.

William P. Hobby is the large airport in the south of Houston not Pasadena.

Thanks Steve. Don't worry about the delay. Your contribution is appreciated!

It should be in Monday night's upload. I am taking the weekend off. ;-)

Are you referring to the T-28s at "Skyway Manor"?

Actually, I have it as a F-102 already.

RickH wrote:

I have added the specific model to the "private" notes. I may eventually include model details and serial numbers, but not yet. For now just the base models.

RickH wrote:

Noted in the private notes.

RickH wrote:

Actually you will see there are often more than one city noted for a site. The largest center near-by the site is noted first, then the second largest moving towards the site, and so on. Often the city list ends with an airport or military base. The reason this is done is to allow sites in major centers to be listed together. It helps the person who has never been there to plan their visits more easily.

Thanks once again Rick for help. It is appreciated.

Mike

Yeah, Mike. Skyway Manor. It's in Pearland.

To the east of Pearland in Friendswood, TX there is Polly Ranch, a fly in/live in community. I know of at least 2 O2s that live there in the open.

Rick: You are 100% correct. Call it a senior moment, partheimer's disease, or simply late night goofiness.

I should know better, since I have been several times to Ernesto's place in the past; we moved the BT-13 from there to Arcola, and then it was shipped to Argentina, a few years ago.

I can tell you though, that not all the original T-28s remain there. Two at least, were overhauled and brought back into flying condition, and the overall gray one went to Arcola, but this was a while back.

Saludos,

Tulio

Oh, I know. There were at least 5 outside originally and Ernesto had one in his hangar.

Ernesto helped bring the Collings B-25 back to ferriable condition when it was in Beaver Falls, PA. That was many, many, years ago. We spent some time together back then.

It is an Extra 300L. It was one fantastic ride. As you likely have guessed this is the "before" shot. The "after" shot would not have been pretty. I lost my breakfast from about 6 hours before. I was not quite right for about three days. :(

Well sorry U had to sell a couple of buicks during that, still fun though When Gary Austin worked over here,he had a borrowed Yak52 that he took me up in and pulled something like 6-7 g's and I had a blast! It was like a big ol rollercoaster ride to me! The only time I had to sell buick's was one year going to Reno in the back of the Fury when that hot sun over the bumpy desert of Nevada  I was prepared so didn't make to big a mess!
