Does Wiley Sanders still own the Red/White DC-3? I remember when it was always at Breckenridge.....

Hi all,wondering if someone has some history on the cowls on the DC-3.The area of the cooling air inlet at the front seems markedly smaller than normal and it also seems to have non-standard gill doors.Was this a factory mod or other,either way it looks great.What type is the aicraft with the yellow nose & polished spinner,it appears to have T-6 lineage,great pics Chuck,especially the Hooters!!Cheers,Pete

Ozfuryfan----That is a P-64 replica. North American built about thirteen of them with about half to go to Siam. After Dec.7 they were impressed into US service. Lots of T-6 in them, biggest difference was an 1820 motor. That one looks like it still has a 1340.....we have one down here with the 1820 built up by Ezell, boy does it climb.

Hmmm, interesting. I'm gonna hijack the thread for just a moment here.....

When we were doing our part of the work on the airplane you're talking about that is here in Texas (not the one pictured in this thread), we called it an NA-50, based on the 1820 being installed......well, and because of this information here........
