Gotta love the 215s. Several years ago there was a fairly major fire a few miles away in a state wildlife area. My house was about halfway between the fire line and the lake they were scooping from. Several days in a row I woke up to the sound of CL-215s several hundred feet above the house. At the time the 215s were C-GOFO and C-GENU, there was also a 415 down from Quebec which I wasn't able to id. The state of Minnesota must have been impressed by their performance, as the 215s were purchased shortly thereafter and became N263NR and N266NR. Unfortunately I don't have any decent photos as all I had at the time were a few cheap fixed focus non-zoom models.

Neat Dan!!
Can you remember the number on the 415? That will allow me to find the registration!!
I just love those planes!!

The CL-415 was number 271. I do have some decent photos, but I wouldn't feel write posting them as they are not mine, and I've lost contact with the photographer.

Hi Ollie,
Any idea how many 215's the Quebec government is operating now, compared to 415s? We had three around here last week to quickly get on top of a fire in Gatineau Park, put I didn't see them so I don't know which type they were. How would I find out where they are based? I was surprised that they were able to get three into action in this corner of the province so quickly.

Hey Charles,
we have 8 415s, 2 215Ts and 4 215s.
It's not long to go from CYQB to Gatineau, maybe 2 hours of flight, a CL-215 flies at 150KIAS, faster than C-FWOL!

There are still a few TBMs at Fredericton.
Some of them are back in the air for the fire season I heard.
