Kansas Tornado

Sat May 05, 2007 7:22 pm

If I recall, Duane Shank, who has sold us a lot of T-6 parts over the years, lived in Greensburg, Kansas. If anybody gets any information on how he survived the storm, I would be interested to know. He is a good guy.

A strong EF4 or EF5 struck Greensburg, KS Friday night taking out 90% of the town. 9 people were killed and dozens of others were injured in that torndao. The damage path was 1.4 miles wide.

Tim,

I was wondering about Duane, too.

Too late tonight to try to call him, but just in case, these are the phone numbers:

Duane was wiped out, by he is alive. Got this email from a ladt named Donna.

As you may have heard, Greensburg KS (home of Duane and Ron Shank) has taken a direct hit by a tornado. This occurred last night at 9:45 CDT. Because Duane and Ron Shank, both aviation enthusiasts, have contributed so much in their lifetimes to aviation, a group has set up a Recovery Fund to help in their rebuild efforts. Both have suffered a total lost of their personal homes and their businesses in this disaster that literally flattened the city of Greensburg.
I am writing to request your participation in this fund. Please notify NATA members so that they may have opportunity to assist the Shank family in their time of need.
Funds can be sent to:
Shank Family Recovery Fund
The Bank of Tullahoma

Glad to hear Duane and Ron are OK! I bought some T-6 parts from Duane in the past and he was very helpful. Back in the early 90's, Duane helped organize and promote back to back air shows at the Greensburg airport that I was able to fly the T-6 in. We wish them all the best. Jake.

I am sure glad to read what i have. I only found out yesterday afternoon that they are on the survivors list. Does anone have information about his secretary named Ella May? I will go out to Greensburg to find Duane most likely tommorow and assist him. If anyone knows his actual whereabouts please advise me so.

Duane has some family members here in PHX. I will try to contact them today to check status. I have been unable to reach Duane by telephone in Kansas, which is understandable. I'll post any data I receive.
