Gary,

I'm the guilty party who asked about the insignia. Thanks for taking the time to walk us through it. I'm learning a lot from your posts. I agree with Ztex, she does look great outside.

No need to feel guilty about your question on how the insignias are put on, Jim. Valid question, and like I said before, it was no trouble to describe it. :)

WOW! Looks awesome outside. Like an entirely different airplane from the old one. Looks great!

927 definately has a whole new attitude.

Very sharp and refreshing. Perhaps CAF will see the benefit of scheme changes every now and again and apply it to "other" aircraft in the CAF's stables.

Gary

Was there ever any thought given as to maybe restoring the main portion of the 927 in "A" model configuration while restoring the cockpit forward in "D"model configuration? With the Dual Wing Pitot tube, astro dome and 3 .50 cal greenhouse gun configuration? Since that is essentially what you have.

Just wondering. Just something about those "Prickley" front ends on the "D" models.

Hey Gary, you didn't seal up that #40 hole in the center of the insignia! Are you sure you won't need to revise the flight manuals to account for the extra drag?

I was wondering how long it would be before anyone caught that.

Actually, I looked all over this place for two stinkin' #3 rivets (AN470-3-3), but I couldn't find them anywhere. Why two? Well, because there's a hole just like it on the other side as well. ;-)

I'll fill them later and touch them up with red paint.

Man, I can't sneak anything by y'all, can I?

bdk,

I, too, am worried about parasite drag--the folks at Consolidated did such a wonderful job of using the minimum number of fasteners in this airplane that I'm sure these new rivets will change power settings!! :D

Gary-there were some -3s in the plastic shelving by the English wheel the last time we were there (I think).

Wow, Gary... just... WOW.

The pics of 927 in the sunshine are nothing short of spectacular. I know there'll be tons of things you fret about, but please believe me when I say that this is an unbelievably awesome rework. The CAF ought to construct a statue of you in recognition of your efforts... and once again, you've taught me something, this time how to measure and create a US star in full scale. As a modeler, that's very, very helpful.

Thank you, Gary, for all that you're doing- both to 927, and here on WIX, helping to educate the masses.

Cheers,

Lynn

Oh, did I forget to mention that with the combination of the hot Midland sun, along with the wind and vibration from the running engines, the nose art all but completely came off of the side of the fuselage.

Okay, only kidding of course.

Phew! I feel better now. What would y'all do without the WIX internet inspection team all these thousands of miles away from you!

BTW, I've got just the project for you to return the favor...

OH NO, did we use "movie paint"? Hahaha.

The first thing I thought when I saw the pic prior to the run up was, "I bet that paper is going to blow right off." ;) Did it get ripped to shreds in the prop wash? And did it take any OD with it?
