According to something I read the Mustang when with the Dominic Republic crashed in 1967.!

44-63791 - this a/c was damaged in an accident in 1967 but not a complete write-off.... probably used as spares kite during later IRAN activities...... so the core might be a real veteran that had been deployed to the ETO in February 1945 (no unit assignment has come to light so far)

What is the average number of Me-109's flying currently? Including the Hispano, original, etc.?

I'd say 10? Anybody with a better guess?

I know were there are 5 more BF109s all in crates. Or at least used to know were they were in 1988-89. I am willing to bet they are still there.

also, know were 5 p51 mustanges are all crated up.

And you can forget about trying to buy them.

Talk about curiosity murdering the cat!

I still want to go down to Big Springs with a big ole' sack of money and buy the whole kit and caboodle there!

Thats the one that I am talking about.

I have been through those hangers and crawled all over the planes that were out. As well as the tanks, PBY and other goodies. Talk about amazing.

I believe about 10 Hispano 109's are there and only 1 P-51 and Spitfire as far as fighters go.

Ed Russels Me-109.
Messerschmitt Foundation has 2, D-FMBB and D-FEHD/D-FDME, both are buchons which have been converted to G models with Daimler engines.
FHC has a genuine Me-109 in airworthy trim, but I don't think it has flown.
Tom Blairs Hispano Buchon at Duxford.

These are the ones I know of but there may be more.

When I was there, I am sure there were a lot of mustangs the way I remember and all those MEs were in boxes.

I was there for a short amount of time, but I could go on and on about stories of his hangers, his castles, etc.

The one thing I will share is that I went to school with some of the children of the wealthiest oil barrons in the world. And Mr Edwards was in a class of his own, very nice man. Had I known about his airplanes and endless amount of toys I would have been much nicer to his daughter.

Oh... haha. Imagine inheriting that collection!

Can you share anymore info on the crated P-51s?

I thought the P51s were at the same location as the 109s.

The way I remember it, we went into one hanger and there was a mustang out and 4 more crated up. He let us crawl all over everything and you can bet I did!

We went into another hanger and there were the 109s, again 1 was partialy built and the others were in crates. I think this hanger had more stuff hanging on the walls like wings and such.

Have to remember, this was a lont time ago and I was pretty young. Add to that pretty girls, guns, tanks, airplanes, castles with underground discos, pools and more. It was sensory overload. I needed more time there!

There's the CAF Buchon, supposedly still airworthy but hasn't flown for about 2 years and has been up for sale on Courtesy for some time, Harold Kindsvoter's Buchon (airworthy), plus I'm not sure what the status is on Eric Vormezeele's in Belgium. Then there's the MAG's re-engined Buchon 'Red 7', being mended after they broke it a year or so back.

Cavanuaugh's Buchon (ex-Robs Lamplough, Charles Church) was airworthy, has now been 'retired'
