Fighters pilots are born to make movies , bomber pilots make HISTORY, cargo crews haul their material and fame.

This may be too small but I bought a B-17 co-pilots sliding window about 5 years ago and put a collage of my Dad's World WarII Bomb Group photos behind the glass using the frame of the window as a picture frame for a Father's Day present.

It was heavier than stink to hang on a wall but it was a real attention getter and pretty unique.

Just an idea for the B-17 pilot in your life.

Ive never seen a window like that in a B-17....hmmmm

Elroy, you can go out to the museum tomorrow, but you won't find that window on T'bird. While you're there, help with the engine change.

T'bird also has additional windows behind the nose also that other -17's don't have either. The nose is also unique to T'bird, its not standard either.

I believe the only existing B-17s that have these auxiliary windows are B-17F 42-3374 at Offutt and the fuselage that came from the bar in Greeley, Colorado which may be 44-83387.

nobody ever remembers those nose portholes!!!! 1st i've seen anywhere!!! now.... the sliding cockpit windows i've seen fairly often.

Well... the small 4 windows in the nose are just above the chin on the port side and two on the starboard side. National Geographic put those in when they owned TB to aid with the high alttitude maping.
