Hawk quiz

Thank you JDK for sending me a nice big parcel of stuff liberated from Spain.

A couple of interesting things about the Falcon 6 and the Hawk in the museum there.

Falcon 6 - started off as a Major like mine. It appears that somebody decided to heave out the Pikey Major and put a Queen in it at some stage.

Hawk - This is a cobbled-up Magister. Alter poor old Maggies fuselage and tail - add some ridiculous-looking trousers that bear no resemblance to the graceful items seen on my Falcon or genuine Hawk Major and voila - you have something that fools 99% of the visitors into believing that it was one of the pre-war Hawk Majors that went to Spain.

Rare survivors just the same which hopefully one day will be restored to their correct configurations. Now that would take a nutter......

Just if anyone was wondering, the Falcon 6 IS a warbird - like most aircraft around there at the time, it was equipped for bombing in the Spanish Civil War... For more (inc pics) in Spanish go to: http://www.fio.es/museo/miles.htm

Back to the quiz.... there were the "Gulfhawk" series of Grumman aircraft used by the Gulf Oil corporation... I think that qualifies. We forgot the Hawk 75 also.

Don't forget the Piper Tomahawk, the Cessna Hawk, Hawk Arrow (ultralight).... or Percy Pilcher's Hawk (which he died in).
Then there's the BAe/McDonnell-Douglas T-45 Goshawk, and the HH-60G Pave Hawk, and the coastguard JayHawk. There's also the Desert Hawk UAV, along with the SparrowHawk gyrocopter.

Oh, and don't forget the Hawk missile (it is a flying machine of sorts, right?).

Guess that's enough nerdiness for now :roll:

Now let me get this straight, We're saying if it flys and eats meat it's in the hawk/falcon/kestral/harrier/vulture family? If so, let's don't forget the F/W Condor and the Curtiss Condor

Well, it's a raptor, and Hawks are raptors, but the idea is 'Hawk' (in any language) as all or part of the aircraft's name... Not hard really!

But hey, there's no rules here...
