I've noticed a large volume of people quitting/leaving (or threatening to leave) WIX in recent weeks.
Just curious what's up with that?
I don't agree with everything said here, but it's very easy to just skip over the offensive, argumentative and other disagreable topics and threads.
It's not only on this board, but several others I frequent as well.
I know this has been a very tough year on many people - especially those of us with friends in the airshow industry. Maybe that's why emotions are running so high.
It takes a lot to run a site and effectively manage a message forum and the moderators do a terrific job without stepping on freedom of expression.
Of course, you have to wonder how many people who 'leave' are actually still lurking, but no longer posting.
It's unfortunate to see so many valuable contributors stepping away from one of the better forums on the net.
Personally, I will continue to lurk, occassionally post, and skip over those messages and threads that get under my skin.
Anyway, enough of the soap box :) but felt the need to vent. Now....off to the therapist to discuss these irrational thoughts!!!!!!!!

Well said! I was wondering the same thing!

Just relax.

I don't even think twice when someone insults me in the real world, and I really wouldn't think twice here.

(Actually I kind of miss the politial debates... I never said much, but they were kind of funny! :? )

Cindy...IMHO, it's people who are obsessed with the minutae of the warbird information who are mostly the "flamers". OK...if that's your interest, so be it. BUT, don't get in the face of someone who has less knowledge about a certain subject than you do.
We're ALL ignorant about a lot of things, so it would be nice if those folk with the specific knowledge would refrain from responding to the ignorant as if they were stupid. I'd say that's what's driving most of the troops away. Being talked down to.

Mudge the ignorant

ps. And not ashamed of it.

Michael Jordan quit. Cal Ripken quit. All those warriors in WWII quit in 1945. Quitting is honorable, a decisive moment in a person's life, and a benchmark of a true human being. One should be encouraged to quit at appropriate times in life, by a "quitmentor."

At one point, in a particularly trying period of my life during an athletic event, I looked at the gentleman beside me on the field, and told him how much fun I was having as we were doing what we were doing, blatantly lying through my skull. To paraphrase what I said, "I love this sh**, and I hope we get to do some more." He went cross-eyed, fell out, and was medevac-ed, never to return. I should have encouraged him to quit. And then quit myself. I failed miserably and am truly sorry for my mistake. I feel partially responsible for his death. Actually, I only feel partially responsible because I quit caring about what other people think of what I do the first time I made it through something I was trying to convince myself to quit.

As in, the bullsh** here on WIX. If you can't make it through this stuff, and stop posting and reading because you think you can't take it, you're going to have a tough time in life. Go get a prescription for prozac pronto- you're going to need it because life is going to be just chock-full of disappointments for you.

Taking you toys and leaving the sandbox is just childish.
If your not happy whith how things are going then don't log on.
It's that simple.
Deleating the Information that were here to Exchange is an insult to Scott and the rest of us.
Its like tearing a page from the middle of your favorite warbird book.

We are all different:
Some like fighters, some bombers.
USN, and USAAF.....RAF and the good FAA.
100LL and JetA

We all have a common interest, lets respect that.

I found it more than ironic that when the ball turret guy posted a pic of a crying infant while referring to others and then proceeded to act just as childish by deleting all of his posts.

If one chooses to leave, then go; please don't make a spectacle of it or make a gluteus maximus out of yourself. If you choose to stay, we'll enjoy reading your posts and be that much better of a community for it.

Thats where you guys are wrong! I deleted my posts because I got insulted and critized for posting them. I was tired of it and to prevent more BS pm's I deleted them. Sometimes you guys only look at one side of the story instead of both. Give me a break! It wasn't childish...I was just protecting myself from more harrassment!

Nathan -

I was meaning to PM you, thanking you for staying. 8)

In your instance, I can see the retraction; not a problem with that - it was meant to defuse the situation and did not appear as a tantrum. That being said, thank you for only deleting the relevant posts and not all of your posts! :)

Mike

Blah, Get over it ! Don't be a victom. Here is something to give you insperation before conversing with those you oppose. It is a tactic my Nemesis on WIX uses Often to push his point of view. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CqlE9eNWYj4

so he's a nazi or he rolls over your wimpy and inqonsequental defenses? :P

Seriously, I've realized recently that I can be way crabby, overly pushy, and simply put, a jerk. I'm trying to improve that, personally. I'd like to ask that others look at themselves before they get all insulted by a rather trivial post. There is a lot more to life than allowing the net to strangle you, or using it to strangle someone else.

May all your pancakes be tasty!

I can't remember that internet rule that says, "once someone has been called a nazi the thread is over," :P

I hope you realize I was joking. Maybe it was just me that found it funny :(
