Can someone please tell me the status of this aircraft?
Originally part of the Airworld collection I last saw it in the hangar last April. Having been offered for sale (including advertised in Classic Wings) for quite a while I read in one of the other aviation mags that it was to be stripped of parts and scrapped if a buyer wasn't forthcoming.
I hope this isn't true.
Thanks Martin

Hi

If you mean the one in the photos taken hereunder by Tony Andrews last week then I think you will find it is being restored at Wangarratta at present.

Is this the machine you were interested in.

John Parker

John, how about the Lockheed 12 that was at Wangaratta? Still there or has Ross taken her home?

Thanks John for the reply and images.
(I thought you might know, it was your Wangarratta images that rekindled my curiousity)
When I visited at Easter this was a complete aircraft so your images with lack of tailfeathers, engines etc beg the question is it being restored or is this part of the stripping process? I believe this was initially sold to a couple of well know warbird identities but this is in conflict with the mag article. If it is being stripped and scrapped it seems a real shame
for what seems like a reasonably complete and apparently close to airworthy Dak I believe it flew into Wang.

Martin

No need to worry, the DC-3 has been sold to an owner in Nth. Qld.

Hi Dave thanks for that - I didn't think it was being scrapped as it was being dismantled with too much care and in fact it looked like it was being restored/refurbished.

Kindest regards
John
