Yes, N339 was based at Chino Airport, owned by a Los Angeles area Nazi, and was the temporary abode of a well known local aviation artist.

When the owner was arrested, the news media apparently got wind of the fact he owned an airplane and news choppers were found to be circling around the long derelict plane while reporters suggested it was intended to be used as a bomber to attack the First AME Church in Los Angeles.

Any other questions?

Saw him about a year ago at Aero Trader. He mentioned a possible move to Indiana. Maybe one of our well-connected Indiana residents might know.

Crandel was a friend back in those days. Geez, in those days on a visit to the airport I mingled with Elmer Ward and then I would go hang out with Crandel you can't get more extreme polar opposites than that. His artwork and story telling ability is brilliant.
