Hello Mr Rohr,

I can say that the 2nd one (triplane) is a Curtiss L-2.

Working on the other three.

Double Jeopardy isn't necessary Col Rohr as the correct answer for # 2 is a Curtiss 18-T-1

Is # 4 (The sub launched one) a 1931 Loening SL ?

That sub one looks a lot like a Douglas DT-2 and the first one looks like a Curtiss Golden Flier...

but not sure of either...

Number 1 Curtiss AH-1
Number 4 Martin MS-1
Just guessing
Still working on number 3

Just a wild ass guess on #3, is it possibly Lt. Ellyson being catapulted from a ship at the Washington Naval Yard in a Curtiss AH-3 on November 11, 1912?

Wed Dec 08, 2004 9:36 pm

Yeah on second look it does look way to small for the Douglas. I'll go with Martin MS-1 also

Isn't the AH-1 a military derivative of the Golden Flier ?

United States Navy Aircraft since 1911 By Gordon Swanborough and Peter Bowers. If Rob comes up with any aircraft quizes from before 1911 I'm sunk!

Wed Dec 08, 2004 9:44 pm

upon saying that, you just know Rob is now going to do just that !!!!!

Mind you, there's not that many aircraft to choose from

So tell, me Col Rohr,..

A little confused by your answer....

Is it not an AH-1 for # 1 ?
and # 3 not an MS-1 ??

Okay, if #1 is not an AH-1 then must be an A-1 ?

and # 3 is a Curtiss Model M?

Still working on # 4

Curtiss built way to many of these early seaplanes. Curtiss C-1, are they also called F boats? Man this is getting confusing.

awww geez....

I concur with Don's comment.
Just when you think you know the answer,...nah ah...wrong..!!!

Back to the drawing board (research books)
