Yup,
Right off the flight deck by the bomb farm. The angel picked him up and they flew him off the boat in the COD ASAP. Once we had some idiots do an electricial check on a M61 in a A-7E without downloading the ammo. Put 3 rounds into a fully loaded KA-6D. The flight deck was like hell itself. Ten dead many injured 6 jets destroyed. In retrospect the jumper was probably the smart one.

The A-6E at Fallon is a display aircraft. It is pretty close to the airfield so no joy to that not in service.
They also have an A-4, A-7 and by now an F-14 on poles. The A-4 & A-7 where also armed, I can post pictures of them later. The F-14A they had to seal everything up because the Fighter Squadrons would go and try to steel stuff off of it to keep theirs flying, The Clinton years where good form that, but that is another story.
I have always wondered why the Navy has removed the Flir pod (TRAM?) from the nose of all the display Aircraft. Kind of sad because it was a key component to the A-6Es
For the record I worked on the Lawn Dart (FA-18 ). I could have only wished I worked on some of the "Iron Works" Aircraft.

There are a number of EA-6B squadrons still operating - the ones I'm aware of are all out of Whidbey NAS. Neat, big, loud plane!

HI ,I THINK THAT THE REEF IDEA MAYBE DIRECTLY FROM THE GOOD PEOPLE AT THE N.H.C. AS A TEST TO HOW LONG WE CAN STORE OUR NAVAL HISTORY UNDER SALT WATER!!I KNOW THAT SEVERAL M-60 TANKS HAVE ALSO BEEN DUMPED FOR REEF MATERIAL!! THE MILITARY HAS TAKEN A HARD LINE ON RELEASING TACTICAL A/C TO THE PUBLIC ALTHOUGH A FEW HAVE SQEEZED THROUGH THE CRACKS,I SEEM TO REMEMBER A EX BLUE ANGEL F-18 ON EBAY ANY FOLLOW UPS ON THIS?MOST SUVIVING JETS HAVE BEEN BUILT UP FROM WRECKS ,RECOVERED FROM 3RD WORLD OPERATORS,OR PUCHASED FROM THE SCRAPMAN!IT WAS A PLEASENT SUPRISE TO SEE THE COLLINS F-4 AND LETS HOPE THAT MORE CAN BE OPERATED IN THIS MANNER.ITS SAD THAT SO FEW JETS HAVE SURVIVED MOST ON POLES OR STATICS STUCK IN A CORNER NEVER TO FLY AGAIN.OPERATING COST ARE BEYOND WHAT MOST OF THE REGULAR GUYS CAN HANDLE, FUEL COST ALONE WILL SCARE THE HECK OUT OF THE LIGHT OF HEART!! AS FAR AS REEFS GO WOULDNT DEMOLISHED BUILDING MATERIALS,CONCRETE REMOVED FROM CONSTUCTION SITES ECT MAKE AS GOOD OR BETTER REEF MATERIALS THAN HISTORIC AIRFRAMES? AT LEAST THIS GIVES THE SMALL PERCENTAGE OF AVIATION NUTS LIKE US THAT ARE DIVERS A VAST COLLECTION OF INTRUDERS TO VISIT WHEN WERE NOT ON SOME MOUNTAIN TOP RECOVERING THE LAST FU-2 THAT SURVIVES!!MY HATS OFF TO THE RED BULLS,ECT THAT SPEND LOTS OF CASH ON FLYING BILL BOARDS AT LEAST THERE FLYING!!

JUST REMEMBER THE MARINE ARE PART OF THE NAVY! WHERE DID YOU DAD SERVE? MY COUSIN DON FLEW FIRST WITH VMF-121 WITH JOE FOSS ON GUADALCANAL. THEN FG-1Ds WITH VMF-112 UNDER HAP HANSEN ON THE USS BENNINGTON SCORING 5 KILLS BEFORE GOING MIA OVER JAPAN.
