Oklahoma Locator

Thu Jan 31, 2008 8:00 am

I have taken the Oklahoma section of the Locator as far as I can, so I turn it over to you...

http://www.aerialvisuals.ca/Locator.php ... TheResults

You will find the “Need Help List” below. It is simply a list of locations for which I need assistance to make the data more complete. The “Need Help List” is a subset of the complete listing which is available via the link above and that subset includes the locations with the big red + signs. If you notice you have any info to contribute when viewing the complete list just click the red or blue + and you will be taken to a form where many of the fields will already be filled out but you can also provide corrections and/or new information. You can also post your contributions here if you would like.

I am looking forward to any assistance you may be able to provide.

Thanks in advance.

Mike

Note: Remember you can right click any of the maps to obtain coordinates of the location clicked. Often the “Need Help List” is asking for more accurate coordinates, so if you can provide those just zoom in and right click on the location to get the coordinates.

EDIT: The "Need Help List" has been moved to a more recent post.

Mike-

http://www.aerialvisuals.ca/LocationDos ... 352#TheMap

This one is at a veteran's display at Washington Park Mall, which is on Washington Boulevard but farther south than you have the pin at. I'll try to get you some coordinates.

#3469 - Tulsa - A map reference is needed. Where exactly is the Spirit of Tulsa Squadron of the Commemorative Air Force located in Tulsa?
http://www.aerialvisuals.ca/LocationDos ... 469#TheMap

The CAF squadron is located at the Jones-Riverside airport, on the southeast corner of the airport.

#3473 - Tulsa, Tulsa International Airport, Oklahoma ANG - 138th FG - There may also be the fuselage of an A-7 stored in the area. Can you confirm? If so where exactly is it?
http://www.aerialvisuals.ca/LocationDos ... 473#TheMap

Where do you think it is out at the guard base? I am about a mile from there, and can go check it out if you can tell me what you know.

http://www.aerialvisuals.ca/LocationDos ... 348#TheMap
This is actually our plane that is located in Frederick.

Thanks for the tip. I have found the mall (36 42 55.25 N 95 55 52.90 W). I for one hate malls. It I were to visit and take a picture of the A-4, what part of the mall is it in so I could get in and out quickly.

Is that the Richard Lloyd Jones Jr. Municipal Airport?

I can’t tell you. I just have the note about the fuselage of a second A-7. If it is there, it is likely in the ANG area and is off limits, but if you have time, have a look around anyway. Let me know if you find anything. TIA.

Yes, Mike- Jones- Riverside is the Richard L. Jones Municipal Airport. People in Tulsa alternatively refer to it as Jones, Riverside, RLJ...

I will try to get you a proper entrance at the Bartlesville mall. I have to run up that way here in the next few weeks, so I'll get you a location.

I can get access to the base if need be, or I can give one of the guys over there a call. I'll see what I can dredge up.

I have somewhere the photos I took of this helicopter, back in October or November 2000. I believe that I passed this information to Andy Marden.

I will be by Willey Post this weekend, working on the SH Group sponsered A-26. There are several other warbirds on the airport that I know of. I do know where the OK Wing of CAF meets, we use part of their hanger. Also another A-26 located on field belongs to private owner.

I work at Tinker AFB and we have several planes in the airpark at the front gate, and several located inside the base it self. There is a F-5 I think, located just outside the gate. Buff and second AC in training yard on back side of base.

Did you list the RF-84 at the OSU ROTC building in Stillwater?

What I try to do with the Locator is find locations where people can find aircraft. This includes museums, and I tend to count the various CAF wings as "museums". The problem with that in some cases the CAF Wings are at locations on airports not accessible to the public, so I try to note this.

Are any of the "collections" open to the public.

Is the training yard accessible to the public or in public view.

Site A: At the Air Park, which is technically off base, at SE 29th and Air Depot, south of interstate 40. Gates open daylight hours to public, restroom available. B-57 is B-52 as you pm'd me. The B-1 is TN 83-071. 8)

Site B: C-130Q (Navy TACMO) is viewable to public which as base privilidges. :)

Site C: Can view from road, in fence at Combat Logistics Training Area. Hulks are used to train in combat field repairs and in ruff shape.

Site D: EC-121K, (AWACS) is also on base proper and viewable to authorized on base. :)

Site E: Seams to be the location of base compass rose, and used to store AC awaiting scrap or other disposition actions.

Site F: Not sure will double check.

Hope this helps for Tinker AFB. :D

Thanks for all of the good info. I am shifting around the order of the sites to put the accessible sites at the top and the "in view" sites next with the "not accessible/military only" sites last. Your input most certainly does help.
