Hey,
thinking of one step further, an original patch and "Mission" badges like the boy scouts do? (for all the 25 or so years of gathering)
All the patches I have gotten from FlightSaftey have one rectangular patch and you can add all the different type schools as a small stripe at the bottom

The Idea of having a different patch for each year will create things like the Sun-N-fun patch covered jackets of the 80's

Our EAA Warbird Squadron 7 Patches are 5" patches with 7 colors, and Decals for tails and windows are coming soon.

Hey Tim, I have a pile of them and not one is sewed on to my flight suit

could a small metal pin be useful as an addition to the badge? it could be placed somewhere about it with date, log in name, any other relevant details. the date idea comes from the RAAF Association pins my father used to wear. each year he'd recieve a new " cap " for the pin with the new year on it and from the motorcycle riders toy run badges I have collected over the years ( little metal pin same shape different colour and year on them).

that way even if they are not available in time then can be added at a later date, sort of like bowling pins. got league name with high scores hanging from it.

I have thought about this as well. Would people prefer pins to patches? Speak up now! :)

I have to say I prefer the patch idea as they don't readily come off an item of clothing and get lost forever like pins can.

Just my two cents worth....feel free to make change.

Either, or for me. Makes no real difference.

pins or patches would be good. both have their merits and problems and both appeal to me. would be good to have the option of both but as funds were only just made possible for the patches.... I guess we can or should accept the patches and wait on the pins.

besides, nothing stopping people from signing up at certain things for retroactive pins eh?

" gimme a 2005 pin please, even though i can't make it to geneseo. "

I don't know if pins are in the works, but I had some made for our NCC AAHS chapter a number of years ago, and the expense wasn't at all costly. I ordered 250 pins. This scan did something weird to the gold border, but it's solid lines on the pin.

Since then, I see our members with the pins on their hats, badges, shirt collars, camera bags and even on camera straps. It can get a lot more visibility than a patch. I only wear my patch jacket to a few shows like Thunder Over MI, while my pins are all on my hats that I wear everywhere...............

Okay, did a little research and with Roger's help found a reasonable price on pins AND patches. I probably will do patches first and use the money gained from that to get the pins. Any leftover funds will be used to support the site and/or future projects like this. The cost will run roughly $3.50US to $4.00US each (either patch or pin). Would this be an acceptable price for you guys?

Also, in regards to pins, there will be metal outlines to the design (see Roger's pin above) and this can be gold, silver, or black, which would you guys prefer?

Third, I will be changing the silohette in the logo to either a P-51 or a Corsiar. If its a P-51 then it will have to be a top down silohette as I don't think a front view would be distinctive enough. I will try though if people really want it. Let me know your choices.

I am trying to involve you guys as much as possible so we can get something everyone wants. So speak up now.

Well now, if no one can decide, how about a B-29 or maybe a PBY or something on those lines? Plenty of Nice Round Engines. And Sleek Profile...........! Or, if all else fails, I'll throw my vote behind a 4" WIX Corsair.
