She is still in the hangar at Galveston. And will probably head for California by the weekend.

I saw it a couple of months ago in a small T hangar just across the ramp from lone Star. It was partialy disassembled then. At least the outer wings and vertical were off of it.

So, is the A-20 flying to Aero Trader or being trucked in?

Yes, the B-17 mockup is just that. We call it 'the whale'. The A-24 is painted and tailhooked up to look like an SBD. It hasn't flown much this year but usually is a regular flyer.
The top turrets are present but not yet installed on the 4Y.

What's the story on the B-17 mock-up section?
Movie, display?
Thanks.

The mock up, or "Whale" as it affectionatly called at the museum, is a project that several volunteers have been workign on for some time. Built from the ground up (Using wood in place of Aluminum for the Ribs) it is going to be set up so that kids can walk through to learn what the insde of a B17 was like. THe plan is to come up with some sort of guns and other items that the kids can touch and play with.

Oh, it's a secret....I understand. :D

Just be sure to take lots of pictures if it flys out and post them here. I'm really interested in seeing that plane fly again. The last time I saw that thing in the air was when it was owned by Willie Farrah. I saw it and the CAF's A-20 fly in formation together at Airshow '79? or '80? down at Harlingen. Man, what a rare sight!

Im not sure about it being a secret... I wont be at the museum this weekend. I will be with the B-17, B-25 & Stearman at Conroe, TX doing the ride program. I took care of the A-20 for several years at the museum. I know several pilots were itching to fly her. I've never seen her fly. Its sad to see her leave Lone Star but Im excited knowing that she will return to the air again!
Like you I use to watch Max fly around the CAF's A-20. It really was a sight!! I remember seeing Max come over show center one year and open the bomb bay and all of his lawn chairs rain down on the field!  I guess he forgot they were in there when he came in fast for his bomb run.

I used to, but unfortunately, they have been lost due to the passage of time. :( I too, am interested in seeing any pictures of them flying together.
