I believe this gentleman was discussed on the old board, there are pics of his projects online somewhere...

ALTAMONTE SPRINGS, Fla. -- The man known as Seminole County's "most annoying neighbor" is heading back behind bars, according to Local 6 News.

Alan Davis, 49, gained national attention for spreading junk across his front yard, including a giant statue of a human buttock.

Davis accumulated more than 10 year's worth of what officials call junk. He had airplane parts, broken-down cars and fiberglass in his yard. Neighbors have complained about Davis and the piles of junk and rats in his yard for more than 10 years, according to Local 6 News.

Davis, 49, had been placed on house arrest in September after serving nearly a year in prison for illegal dumping and creating and maintaining a public nuisance.

On Monday, a judge sentenced Davis to three years in prison for violations of his house arrest, including failing to return home from work on time and keeping part of a World War II fighter plane in his yard.

"Mr. Davis is marching to the beat of his own drum at all times," the judge said

Davis, a mechanic and welder, claims he's the victim of a government conspiracy and that he's merely fighting to protect his property rights. He was an artist, he insisted, and the pieces of junk were his supplies.

But neighbors and officials said Davis' lawn is an eyesore and he's flaunted the law for years. Once, when a judge ordered him to move the trash, he put it on his roof.

Monday, the Department of Corrections said Davis violated his probation when he failed to return home at the time designated by his probation officer on two separate occasions.

"I sent him a message though the monitoring company to go home now," Department of Corrections official Lisa Farr said in court. "I then called his residence. He had a voice privacy thing. His wife answered and she said at that time that she didn't know where he was at, but she would find him."

In the hallway outside the courtroom, his wife, Aileen Davis, said, "This is crazy. This is a victimless crime."

This link to the online article also has some of the earlier reports on Mr Davis...
Anyone have pics of his projects??

I saw one of the news reports and it showed what looked like a mockup B-25 with parts of a center section and cowlings used.

Video not available, but the thumbnail for the video looks like a fiberglass P-51 Mustang.

Anyone know if Altamonte Springs is close to or the location of one of the open or closed Tallechet restaurants? Looks like that kind of quality.

Last year, Davis was arrested after he created the sculpture of a bare torso and placed it in the front yard of his home on Alpine Street in Altamonte Springs. A neighbor called 911 to complain that the statue was obscene, and Davis was charged with disorderly conduct and resisting an officer.

Wow. Land of the free...?

I had to go back to the October 2002 B-25 News at aerovintage.com to recheck what I'd written to Scott Thompson, as I'd taped the news segment which aired here in L.A. and freeze-framed the two-second shot to make sure I described it correctly, but what it showed was a real B-25 nose, part of a cockpit and center section missing a lot of skin, and tubing frames (with dihedral!) extending from the wing roots out to two empty engine cowlings. It was up off the ground but there was too much grass and trash to see if it was on landing gear.

At some point in time the city came in and "cleaned up" a lot of his junk, and then sold it at auction. There was only one bidder! While not specific, a newspaper article did mention that there were A/C parts among the items sold. I did some snooping and tracked down the guy who bought all this junk, if I remember correctly he was a prop maker for the movie industry. I sent him a letter inquiring about any A/C parts he may have acquired in this sale (specifically a B-25 nose section), but I never heard from the guy! My luck, there was probably a pair of -29 tail turret feed rollers in the junque pile!
