7th B-17 Added to THUNDER OVER MICHIGAN 2005!!

The CAF's B-17 "Sentimental Journey" has just confirmed their appearance for Thunder Over Michigan 2005, August 6th & 7th.
The addition of this B-17 brings the planned total number of B-17's in attendance to a mighty seven B-17's at one airfield.
This will tie the world record for B-17 post-war gatherings!!
The previous record was 7 in Memphis in the early eighties.
Thunder Over Michigan 2005 coordinators plan to fly all seven B-17's in one segment of the show!!

I got to see her fly a couple times, still in the Forest colors but flying!

I was really sad to hear that she was going to be grounded.

Hello Folks,

Relatively New Member here to your forum...first time posting. Was at Thunder Over Michigan last year. Was absolutely STUNNED by the amount of FLYING Iron they had. I had heard about SIX B-17's for this year...now SEVEN ?? I would have come back for 2 or three...but how can you miss THIS once in a lifetime gathering of REALLY Heavy Iron ?

As to the post by the person who is guessing about WHO will be there....as there only 13-14 Flyable 17's in the world...with 2 in Europe...this makes for some fantastic speculation. My opinion (for what it is worth), is that the following will be there:

"Yankee Lady" (of course)

"Thunderbird" (Lone Star Air Museum)

"Sentimental Journey" (Western CAF)

"Liberty Belle" (newest Restoration)

"Aluminum OverCast" ( I would think doubtful unless the bust their tails fixing the damage from the gear collapse)

"Fuddy Duddy" (I thought she was taking Aluminum Overcast's place on the EAA tour)

"Memphis Belle" (David Tallichet) Not sure about this one..but could happen...although the airframe (I think from seeing it up close) could use alot of TLC

"909" (Collings Foundation)

"Texas Raiders" (CAF) I would think doubtful, because I thought it was undergoing the spar AD Note work

"Boeing Bee" (Boeing) Flyable and kept that way...but never flown

"Chuckie" (Doc Hospers) Doubtful...it has been forever since I had even heard she had flown

"Shady Lady" (Evergreen) Possibly...never seen it in person

"Miss Angela" (Planes of Fame/Bob Pond) If I may comment on this one. I worked with Planes of Fame East when they were in Minnesota....and I can say one thing for sure. If "Miss Angela" can't be the Number One attraction there, she won't come. Perhaps things have changed...but somehow I doubt it.

Hey...GREAT to be here and I am hoping to meet some of you at the shows..I am planning on going to quite a few this year.

Let's definitely try to hook up at one of the shows around here. We generally try to get a WIX shot of group members at any of the shows we can get a few of us together at. We have quite a bunch of great guys from Minnesota on the board that you may or may not know.

Are you going to Oshkosh? If you're heading over to Detroit again, I'll see you there!

There is also Miss Angela from the PSAM. As for airworthyness I am not sure, but she looks great.

I don't know the whole stroy but Planes of Fame East / Bob Pond's collection is now the Palm Springs Air Museum.

Look at some of your pictures and the name will start jumping out from everywhere.
